- Here's a thing: When it comes to awards, service levels, etc., you often get bronze, silver and gold. But sometimes there's also platinum, and it always sits higher than gold. Yet, for at least A DECADE now, gold has been more valuable than platinum.

- Lots of fuss about Mandelson, and rightly so. But what nobody mentions is that he actually appeared to function well as the US ambassador. OK, probably because of what he had in common with tRump, but the choice of him in the job wasn’t /quite/ as stupid as people are making out. Almost.
