- Reposted by Friends in the Pages (Alex)Ten years ago nobody in their right mind gave a single crap where trans people went to the toilet and the only reason anyone does now is because they were radicalised by Facebook and a handful of insane newspaper columnists and that’s just embarrassing all round

- Really, in truth, there is no need to use AI. My inclusion of "this way" was unnecessary 🤷🏻♀️
- What is happening to the world. This is absolutely absurd. There is simply no need to use AI this way.
- Such an interesting day @dcuclimate.bsky.social The diversity of speakers was fantastic. It gave us so much to think about. It can feel a bit bleak at times when talking about climate crisis, but focus on community really draws us to what @marylawlorhrds.bsky.social called persistence and resistance
- Reposted by Friends in the Pages (Alex)In response to a question around the defence of human rights in Ireland, @marylawlorhrds.bsky.social warns that we should not take our rights for granted: “I don’t think we can be complacent at all in Ireland". #DCUClimate2025
- Reposted by Friends in the Pages (Alex)Irish people wanting to take action to protect the environment should focus on their TDs (members of parliament) - a concerted campaign of writing to public representatives can be very effective says Mary Lawlor @marylawlorhrds.bsky.social , speaking at the @dcuclimate.bsky.social conference today.

- Reposted by Friends in the Pages (Alex)I'm now searching for new PhD students who are interested in studying how people's brains understand sequences of images like in comics. So, a mix of comics, cogneuro (EEG), and psycholinguistics (especially syntax/semantics). Please circulate to all who might be interested! tiu.nu/22739

- Reposted by Friends in the Pages (Alex)In case you want some sweet news today. I’m volunteering at the book fair at my kid’s school, and discovered Dav Pilkey paid for the whole thing. For the entire school. Every kid pre-k through fifth grade (the whole school) goes home with two free books.

- Great stack @clairelinney.bsky.social Planning to do a buddy read of Jamie with my eldest ✨️💛
- This is far beyond frustrating, it is theft, and we should all be shouting about it, artists or not. @chrishaughton.bsky.social has been outspoken about this topic with good reason.

- I heard a presenter on radio this week opine that children should surely be moved on from picturebooks at a certain age. This comes up regularly and each time I'm fascinated. No one visits the house of an adult & points at artwork hanging on the wall saying, "Are you not a bit past pictures now?"

- This is a conversation worth having #BookSky
- Friendly reminder that if you buy a book on Kindle, you're only paying for the rights to read, not own. If a book truly gets banned, it will be taken away from digital platforms like Kindle, nook, etc. Consider getting physical copies of banned (or other) books! READ BANNED BOOKS #booksky
- Reposted by Friends in the Pages (Alex)Friendly PSA: when people are angry or sad about the loss of something they enjoyed, telling them you don’t like that thing adds nothing of value to the conversation. Let people process their losses in peace.
