RTG 2355
A DFG-funded research training group @JLU Giessen, Germany. Interested in regulatory networks in the mRNA life cycle - from coding to non-coding RNAs!

- Happy to share the work by Fabienne Becker et al in #NAR, showing how yeast Tho1-CTD stimulates helicase activity of Sub2, homologue of human DDX39B/UAP56, by promoting Sub2 oligomerization on RNA. The scaffolding mechanism is shared across species: academic.oup.com/nar/article/...
- Happy to announce our RTG 2355 International Conference “Regulatory landscapes of RNA: From code to control”, Sept 14-16, 2026 in Giessen, Germany. Topics cover #RNA as messenger, recruiting platform, sponge, regulator & sensor. 👉tinyurl.com/rtg2355conf Save the date – registration opens May 1!

- Reposted by RTG 2355🚨 Please share! We are seeking motivated PhD students who wish to work at the intersection of molecular life sciences and computational sciences. #IMPRS #IMPRSBAC @freieuniversitaet.bsky.social @maxplanck.de Check out our projects and apply by Jan 7th, 2026! www.molgen.mpg.de/IMPRSPhDproj...
- @rtg2355.bsky.social PhD candidate Fabienne Becker from the Friedhoff lab recently presented her work on nucleic acid double strand unwinding by Sub2 & UAP56 DEAD-box helicases at the 2025 GGL conference @jlugiessen.bsky.social - the corresponding manuscript is close to resubmission! 😉

- Reposted by RTG 2355I did a thing. I wrote a textbook about #RNA. I wrote it so that those without formal science training could understand what RNA is and how it is used in medicine. It releases in the US and Europe on September 8th. www.worldscientific.com/worldscibook...

- Reposted by RTG 2355My PhD student @leonielorenz.bsky.social (with Eva Geissen) has made this nice (free) online course to introduce mathematical modelling for biology: www.ebi.ac.uk/training/onl... Including both molecular and epidemiological examples
- New paper out by RTG2355 members Jennifer Kothe, Theresa Dietz, Robina Scheuer & Elena Evguenieva-Hackenberg, identifying a new attenuation mechanism that apparently monitors ribosome availability and translation efficiency in the soil bacterium Sinorhizobium meliloti

- And here goes another one - @rtg2355.bsky.social-member Fabienne Becker from the Friedhoff lab presented her research at the 2025 Helicase Conference in Lisbon today: "The Conserved C-terminal Domain of Tho1 Stimulates the DEAD-box Helicase Sub2" - more coming soon #proudCoordinator 😉
- Proudly presenting one of our associated PhD candidates @rtg2355.bsky.social - go Palina!
- Reposted by RTG 2355✨ Deadline extended! There’s still time to apply: September Science Academy - international summer school for women in the molecular life sciences. Deadline: July 14, 📍 Marburg, Germany www.mpi-marburg.mpg.de/1489492/Sept... #WomenInSTEM #SummerSchool
- Back from another great retreat to Schmitten, Taunus - this year with guests from @4r-rtg.bsky.social and from @jlugiessen.bsky.social and @mpi-hlr.bsky.social core facilities. We had inspiring method sessions on scientific diagrams & statistics, complexome proteomics, microscopy & image analysis ..
