- I’ve read some good books over the last year or so and it was this ability to replace armies that made the Romans different. Led to their empire. Early on I think it had a lot to do with their allies in Italy. Later, in empire times, loot from wars supercharged the professional legions.

- True however, the Romans and Sassanians seem to have often battled to a vicious, painful stalemates with serious casualties on both sides but no clear winner. Rather than the loosing loads of men during the rout.

- So did late Roman/Sassanian battles if we’re honest.

- Makes sense. You can always test and adjust for the next one.

- Sounds like a plan. Something that might be worth considering due to the venue, it might be worth having a few general public participation games available alongside the event games? These sacrificial lambs can keep the public busy whilst everybody else enjoys their games.
- Pondering a new bigger game for 15mm - either IABSM or O Group. Would love to hear thoughts... totally appreciate this would mean a whole new set of opposing forces based appropriately... #spreadthelard
