- I feel like there's a spectrum from "Action-Adventure" to "Metroidvania" Ocarina is square in the middle of that sliding scale, with other Zelda games tipping more towards "Action-Adventure" All I know is that I'm missing the Metroidvania elements when I play modern Zelda (BotW/TotK, even SS)

- How do you fix it? I'm a 3D modeling noob and have had such trouble with normals that I've given up and rely on Unity's "Calculate Normals" import option for generally better results than anything I've been able to accomplish in Blender

- Coyote Time (letting the player jump a bit after they leave the ground) is huge for gamefeel. Combine with Jump Buffer (executing a jump once they land if they pressed it a bit early) to maximize. Bonus: spawn the jump particle at the last grounded position to hide the coyote time :) #gamedev

- Exactly!! The more a game does to respect player intent when reasonably possible, the more clear it is when a mistake was made, which can help avoid players feeling cheated by the game, even when in reality it's the game cheating in favor of the player
- someone had asked what it looked like if you removed the lovely rigged model and animations and I can confirm it's very funny

- thank you!!! I've learned the thing I value most in game development is the tactile moment-to-moment gamefeel. I believe just the act of picking up the controller and messing around should be as fun as possible

- yeah. it's to the point where when students ask me the best path to get into games I tell them "Don't" - moreso emphasizing acquiring a degree and skills that could work both in and out of games the industry doesn't want to hire extremely experienced seniors, much less juniors with dinky portfolios

- I think it looks neat :D but I'm a fellow indie platformer developer so maybe not indicative of a broader target audience. I'd suggest you consider what you're in this hobby for, how much experience you have, and whether working on this or any project is an exercise in learning, fun, or profit

- I really appreciate a little pop/bubble sound with some pitch variation. Very quiet, only play when a non-space/punctuation character is displayed, etc. While you don't have to do full unique sounds per character, bonus points for using a lower or higher version for big/small characters

- I briefly mentioned this on the stream last night, but the Calico prototype has been coming together *insanely* well so far, and I gotta thank @waveparadigm.com for his technical mastery on it. The prototype definitely wouldn't have gotten as far as it has this quickly were it not for him.

- It's rare that I enjoy a 2D platformer as much as I did this one. Been following this project for a long time - backed on KS after their super promising demo and am stoked to see the final release coming so soon!
