- I still can't believe this is real life.
- Post a ship that's not Star Trek or Star Wars. ...I was about to write something up but then I realized: if you have some Jane Jacobs / Robert Moses slash fic hidden somewhere, I CORDIALLY INVITE YOU TO KEEP IT TO YOUR GODDAMN SELF.
- Ticket checks before boarding a train is even more expensive and labor-intensive than the conductor-based system that it doesn't at all replace. Perhaps more importantly, however, the NJT concourse at Penn is often nearly dangerously crowded. Slowing people further might actually be dangerous.
- Employees didn't get fired from Marshall Field, they just got reassigned to the Ejector Pit.
- Oh boy, Google getting rid of a feature I use every day, must be a day that ends in -y! Seriously, WTF. I have my emails set to auto forward from some other accounts, but sometimes they get eaten somehow and I have the POP as a backup. So. Effing. Frustrating.
- Absolutely amazing
- I know the cool kid thing to do is to say you're not surprised. But goddamn, I almost fell off my seat. So yes, surprised, horrified, and disgusted—a sadly common collection of emotions.

- Well, that's a new one. A bit of gridlock caused by a double-parked delivery bike. It does show how space efficient they are! Anything other than a bus going by would have no problem.

- Wait, you're allowed to reorient your local bus networks towards regional trains!? I'm asking on behalf of a very large metropolitan area.
- "We are legally required to produce this. Nosy jerks."
- There are only two choices in life: * Be killed in a motor vehicle collision or * Be one of Holly White's organizational men. No in-between.
- While I have mixed feelings on Metro Man himself (that's a creepy robot...) BUT It shows just how iconic the Cosmopolitan/Metropolitan railcars (M1-M6) were, and how much they meant at the time: the agencies could build identities around them. Shows the impact of a modern, attractive fleet.
- Holy crap that's a classic to just be out there! My least practical demand is to bring back the <Q>. Sure, utilizing the B is a better use of track capacity and all of that. But that route belongs to the BMT! And let's run it with R40 slants again! And get off my lawn!

- Reposted by Blair Lorenzo / The Fox and the City🧵 (1/4) On Transit Equity Day I want to make sure we're telling a fuller story of the fight for justice and better transit. 100 years before Rosa Parks, there was Elizabeth Jennings Graham and months before Rosa, there was Claudette Colvin.
- This image is a visual metaphor of Penn Central as a whole.

- Hmmm... anyone out there got an OMNY TVM login?
- Reposted by Blair Lorenzo / The Fox and the CityExtending the Second Avenue subway across 125th St is a great concept, but the current project is deeply flawed: * At $7.7B for 1.3mi, it will cost an order of magnitude more than similar lines in other global cities. * Deep stations will waste a lot of time—over 10 min across 125th.

- So, a friend of mine just sent me this picture, and as they say, it's worth 1,000 words.
- TIL that Toronto still has a speed restriction for trams under underpasses to keep trolley poles from coming off the wire. The system has been all pantograph for a long, long time now. Obviously things like this aren't unique to Toronto. I'm amazed how many easy things like this are just… ignored.
- I have nothing to add other than looking at this location on Google Maps and finding out that it's home to a volunteer fire department training course labeled, "Home of the Hoboes." That is all. maps.app.goo.gl/vGwSdiPiqHZG...
