- Reposted by Ralph PalmerThe reintroduction of beavers to London has been a huge success. The prospect of elk returning to Britain shows what’s possible when we give nature the space and support it needs.
- Reposted by Ralph PalmerWe're deeply saddened by the passing of Councillor Waseem Zaffar. His commitment to clean air + public health - introducing Birmingham's Clean Air Zone to founding the Clean Air Justice Network (later Birmingham HAC) - leaves a lasting legacy that continues to inspire our fight for clean air 💙
- The Warm Homes Plan is a genuinely exciting & defining moment for this Govt. It will tackle fuel poverty & living costs, while cutting emissions & boosting energy security. Great to be joined by the Minister for a productive discussion with MPs on how the plan will be delivered nationally & locally.
- It was great to host a roundtable yesterday with Warmworks to hear from Energy Consumers Minister @martinmccluskey.bsky.social about the Government’s landmark Warm Homes Plan. Excellent discussion with MPs on how the plan can be most effectively delivered to cut fuel poverty and emissions.

- Important analysis by @cleancitiescampaign.org on the rise of US-style pickups in the UK. There isn't a sudden need for these vehicles; this is a lifestyle choice. Large pickups are more dangerous, more polluting & have no place in urban areas. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/j...
- Good to see Labour strengthening regulations around wood burning stoves following the recent move to bring the UK's PM2.5 pollution targets forward a decade. While there is lots more to do, it's encouraging to see a bit of a step change in narrative & policy on clean air in recent months.

- A Government-led public information campaign on EVs has been long overdue to help rebut the tidal wave of misinformation we see across the media. It's great to see the Government launch its new campaign today to highlight the cost of living benefits of switching to an EV. www.gov.uk/government/n...

- Reposted by Ralph PalmerThe Government's new EIP marks a genuine turning point for cleaner air. By accelerating the UK's PM2.5 target by a full decade, committing to action on wood burning, and backing local authorities, this plan will deliver tangible wins for public health, the economy, and the environment.
- Credit to govt for taking a long overdue move to strengthen UK PM2.5 targets, aligning with the EU. More to be done, but the plan shows a step change in narrative & policy where clean air is taken more seriously. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

- 🚗 New blog from me on the announcement of a new pay-per-mile tax for EVs. It's right that EV drivers start to pay more in tax, but the wider policy & messaging must be right to ensure public confidence in the EV transition continues to grow, not be stifled. lcef.co.uk/blog/ev-tran...

- Cleaner air means higher productivity, better health & a stronger economy - delivering this goes hand-in-hand with labour values & aims for govt. Our essay collection from earlier this year highlights the Labour case for bolder action. lcef.co.uk/publications...

- An interesting budget for transport. Much of the focus has been on the pay-per-mile tax for EV drivers - Government seems to be taking care around its introduction with decent lead time, a boost to EV grant, support for charging rollout & a review on public charging costs. But clearly more to do.
- Reposted by Ralph PalmerBig news on Fuel Duty - the 5p cut will be removed gradually from September. A good way to end this giveaway without pushing up inflation
- Encouraging to see mention of review of public charging costs - critical in context of intro of pay-per-mile for EVs. If acted on, it'd help tackle one of the biggest equity challenges with the transition & strengthen EV running cost advantages for more people. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...
- "It’s about the tiny minority who can afford luxury at the expense of the planet carrying their fair share of the burden, and helping raise the revenue the country badly needs." Great to see Sarah Champion MP pushing for higher private jet levies ahead of the budget. labourlist.org/2025/11/tax-...
- Hard to overstate the significance of this. First fare freeze in 30 yrs; massive boost for commuters who would have seen annual costs rise by up to £300. V positive sign that affordability is being put at the heart of the govt's plans for Great British Railways. www.theguardian.com/money/2025/n...

- Great work by @transenvuk.bsky.social. Taxation hasn't kept up with the trend towards larger SUVs. Large SUVs are worse for the planet & create more air pollution, while being far more dangerous to other road users & marginalising space for others. It's about time something was done about it.
