- Reposted by Nastasya ParkerI spent over a year of my life writing this collaborative craft book with eleven other (fantastic! talented! good-looking!) writers. "Sometimes a story emerges fully formed in your mind, and sometimes it’s an onion, requiring several ‘peels’ to get to the real, eye-watering heart of the matter."

- This is so motivating: "Think small--build up from there." The best defence against the blank page! #WomenWritersNet #WritingCommunity #Memoir
- I teach this a lot. 'moments' are the best defence against the blank page. Think small - build up from there. But by 'moments' I mean those memories that have their claws in you because something was revealed or something was learned. it could be something small like witnessing a raindrop on a leaf.
- Reposted by Nastasya ParkerI’m thinking also of your lines, here: “Structure often finds itself [...]. Instead, I focus on ‘moments’, those memories that have resonated [...]. Exceptional moments are those that reveal something more than the events themselves, some deeper meaning or wisdom.” @lilydunn.bsky.social
- Reposted by Nastasya ParkerThe obvious way is to pay attention - to see everything around us as potential story. There's a wonderful Rilke quote about this that I often teach with. But also being open to seeing things differently. I think the noticing self can also be nurtured through therapy - the right therapy of course.
- Reposted by Nastasya ParkerI guess it's simple. That if you as writer transform or change as you're writing a book - which so often happens whether you're writing fiction or nonfiction, but I think particularly memoir because it's so personal. Then your reader will transform as well because of the energy in the discovery
