They are two faces of the same coin, but my main criticism was on that very fact, they give anything walking and talking an honorary BPD diagnosis without considering more fitting PDs, which I attributed to the erasure of any others in fandoms and the internet in general.
- this is such a big issue in general tbh but i’m sure i don’t have to tell u that lol. finding a therapist w any experience in personality disorders at all is so hard, finding one with experience with anything besides BPD?? like impossible lol
- IME i’ve been more likely to be told by a therapist that my parents were narcissists (they weren’t imo, just depressed, shitty, alcoholics) really based just on the fact that they were abusive than i am to be evaluated myself for a PD 🙃 deeply fucked up perspective imo
- but yeah changing social attitudes by talking abt it more is important
- i do worry i would say ed is a narcissist and people would start going on abt “narcissistic abuse” which is just a term i hate. it’s like calling what my parents did to me depressed/addict abuse imo lol. why are we stigmatizing the struggles fueling it instead of the abuse part
