- the most terrifying thing about looking into AI bros on linkedin is you end up on their github and inevitably they've reinvented timecube from first principles
- have you heard about [frogs]? it's said that if you touch a [frog], it will [spit]! I've even heard that [frogs] that are [spit] on, may [spit] in turn. Hmm.... perhaps if you make a great number of [frogs] [spit] upon each other, a [treasure] will appear!
- Btw, in case y'all missed this on Friday, myself and much of the wanderstop team have been laid off and are looking for work!
- I feel like it unfortunately says a lot about how rare and precious really good producers are that some people have good producer stories but nearly everyone has bad producer stories
- Doesn't help that it's frequently treated as a prestige/nepo role
- idle thought: good tools, like, art tools, understand that good art requires Thought. They make room for the kinds of Thought an artist might want to engage in and try primarily to automate the parts that are repetitive or obvious.
- bad art tools are often the ones that don't consider these use cases. They are often interested in automation to a fault. But the result is nearly always wrong, or unsuitable, or at best merely extremely boring. Because if you automate the Thought out there is no room for Art to be made.
- "Why do you make art" when I'm making something and I've truly hit my stride I can feel the energy emitting from me like I'm a gurren lagann character and there's no feeling like it in the world
- Regardless of the rest I have to admit I sympathize with the idea of not wanting to go back and play a game I made 20 years ago, I feel like that can be such a Haunted experience
- Like "you wouldn't want to play morrowind now" is absolutely Incorrect in the wider sense but I can see how you might think that if your mind is haunted by the ghosts of every alternate reality version of that game that never manifested
- There was a very lengthy period where Wanderstop's story had gone through so many revisions that when I recapped it to people I was just dead wrong, like I came from an AU where it was a different game
- Hey yall. As you've seen here - unfortunately a large portion of the ivy road team was laid off today, myself included. We're all looking for work! Gonna do a quick thread about those who were laid off today and why you should hire them:
- While we've gotten affirming feedback on Engine Angel, pitching unfortunately hasn't been successful. As a result, we've had to make the hard decision to lay off five team members. Each of these devs are incredible: if you have a place on your team, or know someone hiring, please keep them in mind!⬇
- First up, concept artist Nathalie: @loopyyylupe.bsky.social Hugely talented as an illustrator, IMO nathalie's strength comes in the ways she understands gamedev on top of that. Nearly every character model in Wanderstop was made paintover-critiques from her that kept everything sharp and stylish.
- Next is cinematics lead @lizc3d.bsky.social . God, what can you even say? Her INCREDIBLE work on the wanderstop trailer (I know yall know the panic attack scene) is half the reason anyone knew about the game. From previs to final, she has it all. Top tier talent. bsky.app/profile/lizc...
- We weren't able to get funding for ENGINE ANGEL and I've been laid off from Ivy Road, so I'm looking for new full-time animation work (New reel is below! YT link: youtu.be/S4QWqyw_vEs) Everyone else laid off in the thread are amazing people and great at what they do so please hire them ASAP!!

I rigged every character, set the animation style, hired and set schedules, and did a huge amount of animation and anim code, FX work, and more. Enjoy my new demo reel and then email me at jobs@auratriolo.com!
- what IS highguard? Well, as we all know, highguard is FPS: hobby-grade coop campaign; genre-blended, multi-mode competitive e-sports; meta-gro
- "today's article is I generated a bunch of copyright infringement using AI and I'm acting like I made something important" is definitely a new low for game journalism ngl
