Moved over from X. Mid-westerner. Slava Ukraina! Life-long Dem.
Until we fix the right-wing propaganda hold on the populace, things will get rapidly worse.
- This is an authoritarian power grab, full stop. Nationalizing elections would put the executive branch in control of who votes and how. That’s how dictators rig outcomes, crush opposition, and assault democratic self-government. This should alarm everyone: www.ms.now/news/trump-s...
- In the overstuffed closet containing things about which I shall never give a listless fuck, the status of alternatives to nationally-backed currencies or recognized commodities will forever reside. These are Dutch tulips. This is a long-con pyramid game. Every rube should lose his last nickel.
- I also hold the press and talk shows accountable for the election of Trump. They focused on what Trump/Gop said about Biden but gave Trump a free pass. They got him elected the first time and they did it again.I guess it drew in viewers now Trump is repaying them by going after them. How does it feel
- If your dog need to have his ears and tail mutilated in order to win a dog show then fuck you and fuck your dog show.
- I’m not sure we’ve properly addressed how profoundly disturbing it is that America can largely shrug at the stashing of human beings in giant warehouses.
- “Just eat leftovers” Have you heard of teenagers? No seriously. Have you heard of them?
- Just like with Kilmer Abrego Garcia, the biggest sin any targeted immigrant can commit is winning battles — legal or PR battles — against the government, and they just won’t let those losses go
- Scoop w/ @nataliekorach.bsky.social: Washington Post leadership spiked a story that had been prepared by the newspaper's media desk, covering the historic layoffs at the Jeff Bezos-owned newspaper. Details in @status.news: link.status.news/4ai6W4C
- Yeah, wondering what might possibly be left of the Post, I checked the site yesterday to see how it was covering its own murder. It wasn't covering it at all, which answers the question. Such a fucking tragedy. It's Newsweek now, or something at that level.
- A January 6, 2021, rioter, who was pardoned by President Donald Trump, pleaded guilty to a harassment charge after being accused of threatening to kill U.S. House of Representatives Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, prosecutors said on Thursday.
- V. Putin is the de facto President of the United States by proxy. Prove me wrong.

- Anyway, congrats to Will Lewis bumping the UK tabloid scandal to the second sentence of his obit.
- So glad he’s having a good time.

- He seems so willing to do this to others.
- Sadly, this actually sounds totally possible.
- I think it's cool that a Republican president being elected automatically means there is going to be a recession but America keeps electing them specifically because they are perceived as better on the economy.
- In his latest attempt at extortion, the pedophile führer told Chuck Schumer that if he wants funding for the Gateway project, he needs to rename Washington-Dulles International Airport and Penn Station after Trump. The psychologically damaged shitstain is totally out of control.
- Here's what Republicans think is "unrealistic" 1) Need a judicial warrant to enter private property 2) Require verification that someone is not a US citizen before sending them to immigration detention 3) No masks 4) No secret police: Officers must have ID 5) Keep enforcement away from

- (I actually think #14 might be one of the biggest dealbreakers, like half of the appeal to these losers seems to be the chance to cosplay Call of Duty)
- @vanhollen.senate.gov Could you please explain to your colleagues that they must stop voting for Trump nominees? They will be confirmed anyway but it continues normalizing this regime's behavior. Not sure what the benefit is.
- you must protect the Second Amendment with elegance and poise, even if it clashes with your outfit. Education about guns is important. Teach the children early — not just how to shoot, but how to pose dramatically in front of the flag while doing it. Patriotism, but make it fashion.
- Americans: Don't worry. The next election is going to reset everything. The Democrats will fix it. The rest of the world: We are never going to trust your country again. Americans: HUH?!?!
- AOC: We are going to have to reckon, as a country, with this time. And I hope that that reckoning includes prosecution of people who are involved with the lawbreaking and human rights violations they are knowingly engaging in right now.

- Swear to god, ICE could just announce they're leaving a city but not leave and the media will just stop covering that city completely even though ICE never left. It's what ICE and the media did with LA and they're doing it with Minneapolis too
-
View full threadThe mainstream media needs a "political showdown" story angle to ICE or they won't cover it. What is the red team doing and how is the blue team responding? What are the implications on the midterms or Newsom's or Pritzker's 2028 run? Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, ICE raids never slowed down.
- There are major federal tasks forces operating still in Memphis, New Orleans, Miami-Dade, Phoenix, South Texas, still raiding homes, kidnapping people, black-bagging people from courthouses. If ICE does controversial things but doesn't *say* controversial things, it disappears from the news.
- Either powerful people go to prison over the Epstein files, or America admits that rape and pedophilia are tolerable in our leaders.

- Repeat after me: per the Constitution, the federal government has no authority over elections.
- If I were Starmer, I probably wouldn't give a speech on values days after it was revealed that I had appointed someone I knew to be a close associate of Jeffrey Epstein to a senior diplomatic post.... This speech will barely register in the headlines. But it is horribly on the nose at this moment.
- The newsroom Bezos once poured money into and celebrated as a proud achievement already lost 400 people in the last three years.

- Corporatist fascism, plain and simple. DHS is trying to get tech companies to hand over data on Trump critics. This is unconstitutional, and Congress must shut it down, before we turn into East Germany. techcrunch.com/2026/02/03/h...
