Swear to god, ICE could just announce they're leaving a city but not leave and the media will just stop covering that city completely even though ICE never left.
It's what ICE and the media did with LA and they're doing it with Minneapolis too
The fact that mainstream media stopped covering ICE kidnappings in LA isn't because ICE stopped kidnapping (they didn't)
Or ICE slowed down (they have actually increased their tempo)
Or that resistance to ICE slowed down (it never stopped, it grew)
It's the "political showdown" that stopped.
The mainstream media needs a "political showdown" story angle to ICE or they won't cover it.
What is the red team doing and how is the blue team responding? What are the implications on the midterms or Newsom's or Pritzker's 2028 run?
Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, ICE raids never slowed down.
There are major federal tasks forces operating still in Memphis, New Orleans, Miami-Dade, Phoenix, South Texas, still raiding homes, kidnapping people, black-bagging people from courthouses.
If ICE does controversial things but doesn't *say* controversial things, it disappears from the news.
Feb 6, 2026 00:38The media blackout on ICE activity is partly due to national Dem leadership giving up the leverage and national attention they had a month ago.
It's partly due to Americans not being willing to stay engaged for more than a couple months when it's bad things happening only to Black and brown people.
And this is why it's so important for white people to place themselves on the front lines of the resistance to ICE.
Until the public consciousness evolves to where we as a society view nonwhite people as fully human, it's going to take more white people getting shot to keep media attention.
