- I’m honored to be selected as a Pew Latin American Fellow 2025! 🐟🧬🔬 With this opportunity, I will continue my postdoctoral training in the @chrmosimann.bsky.social lab at @cupediatrics.bsky.social/ @cudevbio.bsky.social , and it opens the door for me to return and established a lab in LATAM. 🇲🇽😍
- 🎉 Big news! 10 postdoc fellows from 5 Latin American countries have joined the 2025 class of #PewLatinAmericanFellows, and we’re proud to share that one is our own @mary-flores.bsky.social! Learn more: bit.ly/45rgN5L @cumedicalschool.bsky.social @cuanschutz.bsky.social @chrmosimann.bsky.social
- Congratulations!
- congratulations @matyasbl.bsky.social
- Embryonic induction of fate is a core concept in developmental biology. But, cells can also modify the physical state of surrounding tissues a process we call 'actuation'. I reviewed with @mayorlab.bsky.social 3 excellent papers that show how actuation and feedback can drive changes in the embryo.
- Thrilled to give this talk in Santiago, Chile, as part of the EMBO Global Lecture Series! A wonderful chance to reconnect with old friends and forge new connections. Open to all—hope to see you there! 🌎🎙️ #ScienceCommunity #EMBOLectures
- Thank you, Marcos Simões-Costa (Harvard Stem Cell) and Joao Botelho (P Univ Catolica), for leading the chick module at the @EMBO #DevBiol course in Quintay, Chile! From grafting beads to Light Sheet microscopy with @zeiss_micro, it was an inspiring journey of discovery!
- Big thanks to Universidad Mayor & Leo Valdivia from for bringing zebrafish onsite for the EMBO #DevBiol course in Quintay, Chile! Students bred fish, injected embryos, made chimaeras w/ Corinne Houart (King's College London), and imaging w/ @LiSIUM_Chile. A hugely successful #zebrafish module
- Towing of lateral line axons in vivo in a transgenic zebrafish embryo. Great imaging at the EMBO #DevBiol course in Quintay, Chile, using a Zeiss Light Sheet microscope. Huge thanks to Universidad Mayor, Microxchile, Leo Valdivia, & LiSIUM_Chile for allowing the use of the microscope at the course
- Spectacular finale of the Drosophila module at the EMBO #DevBiol course in Quintay, Chile! Students shared insights, supported by stunning images they captured—guided by the amazing Nipam Patel, MBL-Woods Hole Director, and supported by Mathew Parent from MBL. #ScienceEducation
- The EMBO Dev Biol course in Quintay, Chile, dives into zebrafish embryos under the expert guidance of Corinne Houart (@KingsCollegeLon) & Leo Valdivia (@CIBumayor). Students are hands-on with exciting experiments, exploring the wonders of development! #DevBiol #Zebrafish
- The EMBO #DevBio course in Quintay, Chile is in full swing! Students are diving into Drosophila biology with the amazing Nipam Patel, Director of MBL- Woods Hole, leading the way. Inspiring science in Latin America! #ScienceEducation
- Join us in beautiful Quintay to celebrate 25 years of the Practical Course on Developmental Biology! To register go to biodesarrollo.unab.cl/mini-symposi... Come to enjoy a unique blend of science, sea, and food – all for free!
- We kicked off the EMBO #DevBio course in Quintay, Chile, with two outstanding virtual lectures by Anne Grapin-Botton and Nicoletta Petridou @nicolettapetridou.bsky.social, with excellent participation from Latin American students. Huge thanks to EMBO for their support!
- We're gearing up to kick off the EMBO #DevBio course in Quintay, Chile, for Latin American students in just a few days! 🎉 Huge thanks to @uandresbello, @DiarioMayor, @umayoroficial, @CIBumayor, @MBLScience, and @EMBO for making this possible! 🌎🧬 #ScienceEducation
- In 1999, we began organising Practical Courses on Developmental Biology with M Allende, first in Santiago and later in stunning Quintay, Chile. Over 25+ years, we’ve trained hundreds of students in DevBio, with over 90% becoming PIs in the field! Join us in celebrating 25 years of teaching DevBio

- Embryonic induction was discovered more than a hundred years ago, but his research has focused on the signals and molecules that control it. Now @matyasbl.bsky.social has found, using Xenopus gastruloids/animals caps that mechanics play a key role on mesoderm induction
- Happy to share that my PhD work got published in the special issue dedicated to the 100-year anniversary of the Spemann-Mangold Organiser: Tissue mechanics modulate morphogen signalling to induce the head organiser doi.org/10.1016/j.cd... With @mayorlab.bsky.social and Guillaume Charras 1/n
