- An excellent quote, if I say so myself, which I just did.
- So there was just a very loud and sustained "Fuck ICE" chant during a pro wrestling show on live primetime television, if you wanna get a sense of the vibe shift. (One of the wrestlers, Brody King, is an outspoken prigressive and wore an "Abolish ICE" shirt at a Mexico show in June.)
- today’s tech barons get compared to the robber barons (I’ve done it myself) but it’s notable how the current generation has responded to the philanthropic and cultural legacy of Carnegie et al with their own campaign of wanton destruction of cultural institutions
- i am trying not to joke about the Epstein stuff because it's so horrible but there's also this ridiculous element where it's like... discovering Dracula is real, he's taken over human society at the highest levels, he's involved in tons of evil and also he's a huge dipshit

- I don't say this often but: I'm so proud to be a climate and environment reporter. We cover an issue that is vitally important to humanity and the natural world. 14 of my climate colleagues at the Post were laid off today and I'm devastated. www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/washington...
- Jeff Bezos’s wealth has increased an average of $70 million every day of 2026, meaning that he could have offset The Post’s losses with what he’s made since Monday.

View full threadAnd unquestionably, SpaceX will go public with dual class shares - giving Musk unilateral control - incorporated in Texas or Nevada, which functionally block shareholder lawsuits and requests for internal information.
- The point for SpaceX is once it's in mainstream indexes, index investors functionally are forced to buy. They cannot sell. And since Musk will control voting, they will have no rights at all. Functionally forced to supply capital. www.wsj.com/finance/stoc...

- approximately 18 inches of snow/ice overhang off my front porch roof, Damoclean
- Apparently there is a German word for this.
- ...well? You can't say that and then not say it! Eisundachneevomdachgeunterhangten? Nah... too long and not a real compound construction....

- the lines are from the things on the roof that stick up and are supposed to break up snow sliding off the roof so it doesn’t kill people
- I only noticed this on my third trip heaving Costco stuff into the house, if you’d like to ballpark my danger sense and situational awareness

- Headed to Boston for a talk tomorrow … my first trip there ^not* for a cancer treatment / checkup in a year and half. I love Dana Farber team (got me back to and keeping me cancer free) and I’m thrilled to meet a group of community bankers this time.
- A large CAVA bag stuffed with what it says is $50,000 for White House Border Czar Tom Homan. It’s been reported Homan took bribery money when he was recorded by the FBI accepting a bag full of $50,000 in cash. “ICE GTFO OF MN” Minneapolis February 4, 2026
- I don't see how Will Lewis can effectively lead WaPo. Lewis did not save Bezos from himself on opinion pages. (375K+ cancelations) His innovations did not stem enough red ink. And he has not taken any ownership of the devastating ensuing cuts. He's making Murray own it alone.

- Every lawyer knows this man. He’s the one who loved to “play devil’s advocate” for rapists in crim and do a “thought experiment” about what if maybe Brown v Board was wrong actually in con law.
- I don't want to quote dunk but I saw another "body cams don't do anything" post and I just want to say that I, a criminal defense attorney, very much like having body cams.
