Last name is two words, one name: Hanley Cardozo. I teach writing and literature and study Victorian brutes. My views do not represent those of my employer. Website: khandozo.com
- Given all the historical buildings and facades that Trump destroyed as a real estate freak, it's very funny to me that he thinks slapping his name on stuff guarantees immortality.

- Reposted by Kristen Hanley CardozoThe public made noise for Liam Ramos and it got him released from Dilley. Now we must make noise for 7 year old Diana Crespo. Her parents were taking her for emergency medical care when ICE grabbed them, and she’s rotting in the camp sick and exposed to measles. Get them out!
- Reposted by Kristen Hanley CardozoToday is day 20 (depending on when incarceration countdown begins) of Diana Crespo Gonzales’ incarceration in an ICE prison in Texas. Children are not allowed to legally be detained for more than 20 days.
- This is why all the worst people go after Ethnic Studies. That the study should incite feeling and action is built into the discipline, and it fits uneasily into a system in which performative distance is treated as a virtue.
- 🧶 Question for regular sock knitters: I made a pair of thick cozy socks a couple months back and the soles, at the heel, are already much thinner than the rest of the sock. I want to reinforce before there are holes. What would you advise?
- I, a whiny leftist, would be ever so owned if DHS shut down. Please. Don’t do it.
- I actually don’t like the essay much, but Dorothy Sayers’ “Are Women Human?” has such a great title

- Reposted by Kristen Hanley CardozoI've been seeing this advance ever since I was hired in the 90s. There are a whole lot of people who rely on research universities for lots of reasons, and none of those needs will be addressed in whatever post-tenure regime the culture warriors end up with.

- Reposted by Kristen Hanley CardozoGood grief, no masks is not that big of an ask. Stop giving credence to right wing fever dreams about left wing terrorism.
- Something I noticed as a kid was that when I was 16, men acted like they thought I was an adult, but once I turned 18, people were constantly telling me they thought I was younger than that and I think it’s related to this general creepiness and evil.
- Once got myself yelled at as a fake feminist or something for criticizing her and man, I didn’t go far enough.
- Every email I receive "from" James Carville makes me 5-70% less excited about whatever candidate he's promoting.
- Reposted by Kristen Hanley CardozoThe widespread targeting of Native Americans demonstrates its not about legal status, its about racial profiling. ictnews.org/news/fearing...
- Reposted by Kristen Hanley CardozoThe targeting of Native Americans by ICE is so widespread, tribal governments all over are responding. To protect tribal citizens from ICE raids, tribes are holding events to help citizens get updated IDs and even speeding up the printing and processing times.
- I still think about a review of a stainless steel pot I own in which the reviewer explained that his wife burned the first meal she cooked in it, so they threw the pot away. It comes back to me unbidden.
- Reposted by Kristen Hanley CardozoSome great news. My hybrid memoir IN OPEN COUNTRY will now be published by Little, Brown. It’s about freedom of movement and stillness in the US, and the ways capitalism & settler colonialism have shaped (and continue to shape) the answer to who has either across time. I also do a lot of walking.
- Reposted by Kristen Hanley CardozoNEW: Abigail Spanberger this afternoon ordered that all state agencies leave ICE's 287(g) program. This means that the state police (and some other agencies) will no longer be empowered to detain and arrest people for ICE. Big, big move by the governor within weeks of coming into office.
- Reposted by Kristen Hanley CardozoA year ago Elon Musk tweeted that he had fed USAID "into the wood chipper." It was an act that killed people. We don't know most of their names, but we know 27. I've listed them below. Much like with Renee Good + Alex Pretti, we should also remember these lives taken by the cruel men who lead us

- I remember being in art school and someone told me to switch to using Google from whatever I was then using to search the web and it was honestly miraculous how well it worked and now they're just blowing everything up for...shareholders? Maybe? Honestly can't even tell.
- Looking forward to a time in the future when I'm not always sad.
