- I got blocked by ChatGTP twice in one hour. Yes, I want to target RNA structure, that is my job. No, I do not want to harm people nor design a super virus bioweapon. While I should probably be happy this safety check is in place, I happily dive into the literature myself...

- We are well into our 5-day Cluster Workshop on Ribosome Profiling (Ribo-seq) run by sabbatical scientist Ranen Aviner @czbiohub.bsky.social. We welcome PhDs and PIs from Bonn/Cologne for a hands-on and analysis course sponsored by the Cluster @immunosens.bsky.social @unibonn.bsky.social UKB.
- So far the feedback has been enthusiastic! The group is working on a wide variety of sample sets from diverse origins and biological questions in this first-of-its-kind practical course in the Cluster. We are very grateful for the support to teach immunologists how to study translation.

- It was a double ribosome talk day for us in Bonn with talks today by Ranen Aviner from @czbiohub.bsky.social and Simon @bekkerjensenlab.bsky.social from BRIC Copenhagen. Simon is visiting for the @rhinelandrna.bsky.social tomorrow and Ranen is a visiting scientist in my and Ina‘s lab. #RNAsky
- Lab pumpkins 🎃 2025. Vivian, Ranen, Martin and Lisa were missed (2 people not from our team).

- This massive poster of the ad campaign for the new recruits at the @unibonn.bsky.social is the nerdiest version and the closest I’ll ever get to a superhero movie poster. #Bauzaun

- We are happy to finally present our brand new lab website of the Leppek Lab! About time after 3.5 years of the lab. Perfectly in time for the #EMBLProtein meeting in Heidelberg where our 4 PhDs have posters and I have a talk! We would be happy about any feedback! 🎉 leppeklab.org

- Reminder for the Rhineland RNA Club this Friday (1st AUG)
- The 70s in RNA were quite a time.
- Reposted by Kathrin LeppekProud to share our work where we resolved a longstanding question regarding the existence of a human telomerase dimer and provided insights into its function. Led by 3 amazing lab members in collaboration with @yiliangding.bsky.social and @rdaslab.bsky.social. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
- This week, we welcome Lana Ho (right), PhD student from @mengmengfu.bsky.social's lab at @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social, to our lab to teach us some cool smFISH (in a heatwave) as part of a lab exchange in the @hfspo.bsky.social Early Career Award.
- Update from the scope with Lana (PhD) from @mengmengfu.bsky.social‘s lab, Jakob (postdoc) from Drago Milovanovic‘s lab @dzne.science and Vivian (postdoc) from my lab. Only missing from the @hfspo.bsky.social team is Elarbi (postdoc) from Danny Broere‘s lab at @utrechtuniversity.bsky.social.
- Back to the roots. Literally. It's been a while since my days of working on plant riboswitches with Breaker people. I kind of missed the combination of a dirty bench and RNA work. This time, we want their ribosomes for a crazy idea. #RNA
- After recent visits to the Munich RNAmed Day and Tampere(FIN) RNA Club, I was happy to return to Heidelberg for their #RNA Translation Club Retreat. Fun fact: For me, first time all my 3 TAC members (Georg Stoecklin, Bernd Bukau, Matthias Hentze) were in one room since my PhD defense. Fun times! ;)
