- This crazy world constantly forces us to adapt to surrounding changes, much like blood vessels do! Last week I shared sad news about @weizmanninstitute.bsky.social 😥. Today, with the ceasefire, I'm hopeful we'll all meet at the #GRC_Angiogenesis next month! Application deadline is June 29th! Link👇
- Thanks to all our dear friends for the warm words and offers to help. Weizmann was hit by a missile last night- a devastating nightmare 😭. Thank God no one is hurt, but there’s significant damage to many labs. I’m stuck abroad, waiting desperately to be able to go home to my family and my lab 🙏

- isn't it? Fundamental skill to normalize!
- A few reflections for Women's Day. I'm honored to be chairing the very prestigious #GRC_Angiogenesis2025, one of the best conferences in the field of vascular biology. As such, I've received several requests over the past few months from scientists interested in being selected for an oral PPT. 1/n

- 4. And specifically for #GRC_Angiogenesis2025- we are working really hard to make the best out of our meeting. If we missed your work and you feel it deserves to be presented, please email me! I look forward to knowing more about you and your work!
- The response was overwhelming! First, I could feel the joy and excitement of receiving such an email! Second, there was a 100% positive response! What do I learn from this? 1. It took me less than 2 hrs of work to greatly enhance the level of my meeting by adding outstanding young scientists!
- 2. With this thread, I'm investing 15 more minutes to try and "normalize" women's self-promotion- It is OK to contact the meeting organizers and make them aware of your work! It is OK to come forward and promote yourself! You won't believe how many do that 🫣
- There are many reasons for this, like lacking confidence in the level of one's own research, or feeling it’s not appropriate to contact the organizer—like “no one does that.” I highlight these because they were my own struggles as a young investigator, but I'm sure there are more...
- So, I decided to try a new aproach: I contacted outstanding young investigators (mostly women, but not only) and explained that although we are limited in the number of "invited speakers", I found their research super exciting and I'd be happy to offer an oral presentation if they decided to apply.
- So far, so good! I love that people are proactive, believe in their research, and take the initiative to promote themselves! But... looking back at my notes, I realize I have not received a single such email from a woman scientist 😔...
- Thank you so much for this inspiring thread!
- Last day as a postdoc 🥹 Cleared my bench, hugged some exceptional people goodbye. Ready to be a #newPI first thing Monday!
- Congratulations Naama and best of luck in your new adventure!!
- Looking forward to our own @ivanbassi.bsky.social presenting his exciting work on the neurovascular unit next week!
