- Jacob Frey: "The continued presence of 2,000 federal agents in a city that only has 600 police officers is still not deescalation"

- Heut endlich das offizielle Schreiben aus der Hauspost geholt: Bin positiv zwischenevaluiert, also ab April nicht erwerbsarbeitslos. Sehr erleichtert!! Fragt Ihr Euch nun, was 1 Juniorprof ohne TT für 1 positive Zwischenevaluation bekommt? Ich will‘s Euch sagen: 1 höheres Lehrdeputat. 🎉 #IchBinHanna

- Herrgott.
- NEW: Children are developing encephalitis as the South Carolina measles outbreak continues. @emilymullin.bsky.social has more:
- „Wir werden die Wahllokale von ICE umstellen lassen.“ Im November wird es in den USA keine freien Wahlen geben – Punkt.
- In less than a week the Kennedy Center has effectively closed and our local DC paper has been gutted, both by billionaires. I don’t think immigrants are our problem in this country.
- “This is a case study in near-instant, self-inflicted brand destruction.” www.newyorker.com/news/annals-...
- The headline should be, "DHS to keep 2,000 immigration officers in Minnesota." Instead, it seems the entirety of the traditional media went with, "DHS to withdraw 700 immigration officers from Minnesota." This presser worked like a charm.
- The Washpost's editor said today that, amid the layoffs, one of the Post's top priorities will be "national security, in DC and abroad." And at the same time, the Post is laying off every journalist in the Middle East. And Ukraine.
- Jeff Bezos took over the Washington Post Editorial Board and turned it into a mouthpiece for pro-corporate, pro-billionaire propaganda. Now, WaPo is laying off hundreds of *real* journalists — including the reporter covering Amazon. Democracy dies in billionaire hands.

- Do... do some people not understand that these newly funded paramilitary troops will be the exact people who'll "monitor" the "nationalized" elections and will abduct (at least for day or two in order to "check their status [sic!]") any person too Black or brown to be near a ballot box? OK then.
- A follow up on this Jesse Watters clip from 3 weeks ago. The victim of ICE testified today before Congress that she was on her way to a 39th scheduled treatment at a traumatic brain injury center.
- Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

- Philidelphia DA Larry Krasner warns ICE: If an agent commits crimes in Philly, I will charge you. You will be arrested. You will stand trial, and you will be convicted in state or federal court and you will do your time. Donald Trump can't pardon you for a state court conviction.
- I’m teaching a 1 credit class “America at 250: The Revolution” and the final paper asks students to pick one of the grievances in the declaration and assemble primary sources to tell a story of how the issue has played out since in US history. Fair to say the students are fired up.
- We already live in a surveillance state. ICE lets its agents wear masks so they can’t be identified; meanwhile, they scan our faces. They know who we are, where we’ve been, and who we’re connected to. They’re openly building a 24/7 social media surveillance operation. 1/2
