- Reposted by Sophie DennisOn 1 May 1517, xenophobic mobs, riled up by preachers who were in turn pressured by wealthy broker John Lincoln, rioted in London. They claimed that foreigners were stealing their jobs and welfare. Thomas More, then under-sheriff of London, tried to stop the mob with an empassioned speech.
- Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again. #Pinks #ProudBlue
- If Starmer were a more effective prime minister he wouldn’t need to worry about Burnham. I’m not sure Burnham would even try to get back to Westminster if current Gov was doing a good job. Starmer allies should try fixing the actual problem rather than playing student politics.
- More misleading ADHD reporting by @theguardian.com. Again implie fault lies with private providers, not NHS GPs withdrawing care. And why is this being covered by a “consumer affairs correspondent”, not health journalist? www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

- This is such a bizarre article. The journalist seems to have decided that the problem in this tragic case is right to choose ADHD diagnosis, not being deregistered by his GP and delays getting a community mental health assessment www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

- Reposted by Sophie DennisCompare and contrast the Government language. £3,750 EV grant on a £35k car: ‘helping families’. Cycle to Work: ‘subsidising leisure’. And yet cycling delivers TEN TIMES the impact of electric cars for reaching net zero. It’s almost like narrative, not data, is driving policy.
