- Alright that "ICE OUT" training from last night immediately came in handy (this is not a scary story). Tonight at Teen Art Club one of the teens asked the others what their biggest fears were. One of the girls said "Is it bad if I say ICE?". I was like "No that's a totally understandable fear" 1/3
- Then she was like "What if they raid art club?", & since I literally just learned this last night, I was like “Oh you just walk into the room that says “staff only” & I tell them they can’t go into that room without a signed judicial warrant. They can’t enter the room because it’s private property”.
- She looked *so* relieved. Sure, ICE breaks laws constantly. Lord knows if they would obey the private property designation of the staff only area of the rec center. But thanks to the training last night, at least we have a plan other than "panic".

- My hot take about the “students cannot read whole novels / watch whole films / etc.” is that they can learn to do it. None of us are born with attention spans suited for long media. It is a learned skill and can be developed with practice.

- Would I date this Denver building? Parkway Towers Squeals when he sees cocktail sausages at a party. Wishes conversation pits hadn’t gone out of style. Has a coke dealer. We’re the same shoe size. Lends me his platforms. Wouldn’t date, but the sex is fun.

- one of the things I'm really excited about this semester is having my intro to poetics class do a group recitation of Bishop's "The Moose"
- "The Moose" is a poem about how a group of people become a community when they pay careful, even loving, attention to each other in all their ordinariness and are then able to encounter something extraordinary together and this is what should happen in the classroom too
- plus the poem is 28 stanzas so everyone gets one and I'll do a few extra
