- Fruit trees can also be great for butterflies & moths! Everyone wins! 👍❤️🦋🌳🍎🍏 #trees #garden #butterflies #moths
- Fruit trees benefit all sorts of wildlife, including bees, bats and birds. But around two thirds of UK orchards have been lost since 1960. Planting an apple tree in your garden or community can really help to boost biodiversity. More: littlegreenspace.org.uk/features/cho...

- Should have worn a jumper! Brrr it’s cold outside so wrap up warm! 😬🐛
- Did you know that only 2% of British butterflies and moths spend the winter as an adult? The majority survive as eggs, caterpillars or chrysalises. 🐛 You can help them by leaving dead plants where they are until the following spring 👉 buff.ly/ls5ZDU4 📷: Heath McDonald
- Lots of great ideas here to put onto the calender 🗓️ No need to wait for one to record butterflies though just submit records as you see them on iRecord & help us understand how they are doing. 👍

- New study using @gardenmothscheme.bsky.social data shows that 125w & 80w bulbs attract more moths than any actinics, and that Robinson and Skinner traps retain more moths that Heath traps #teammoth doi.org/10.1111/icad...
- Great work ⭐️ Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers 😀
- My first practical work party of 2026 started cold with snow flakes falling but we soon warmed up! It was good to be outside enjoying the fresh air & clear skies. The sheep 🐑 came by and said Baa! @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social

- Reposted by Butterfly Conservation WarwickshireAn exceptional year mothing with 347 species recorded in the garden beating my previous best of 306 by a huge margin. - Thank you to all our supporters in 2025! ♥️⭐️🦋 We appreciate all your support in any way you can help 😊
- Well it’s the last day of 2025 so a little roundup for all our lovely butterfly followers 😀 93 transects were walked across the county with 98,026 butterflies recorded! This exceeded the previous 4 yrs- amazing! ⭐️🦋⭐️ Well done e all!
- Our top 5 butterflies recorded on the UKBMS transects this year were Meadow Brown (21,491), Gatekeeper (11,949), Ringlet (10,676), Large White (7,685) & Small White (6,313).
- Wishing everyone a wonderful and peaceful Christmas time ♥️🎅🥮🎄🦋

- Our last practical work party of the year is on Tuesday 30th Dec at Ryton Wood Meadows. Carrying on with the hedgerow & scrub rotation. Photo of meadow 3 showing team sheep 🐑 working away on the grass cutting! #volunteer
- Our Harbury butterfly Site made it into the latest Modern Railway magazine. Network Rail had to create special fencing to stop the sheep getting on the rail lines. Good news for our butterflies 🦋 @savebutterflies.bsky.social
- Reposted by Butterfly Conservation WarwickshireGood to be outside getting on with some practical conservation with @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social Bonus as it is the Christmas sausage by the fire time! #volunteer
- Not long now…. 🤞
- Our practical work party volunteers were out at Ryton Wood Meadows Tuesday. The coppice plot is coming along well with the willow trees being pollarded, cut material is fed into the dead hedge which provides a haven for a variety of wildlife. #winterwork #volunteer
- A section of hedgerow was also cut along with the scrub growing next to it. This is done on a rotation. The cut blackthorn was checked for brown hairstreak eggs. 17 were found and saved, not that many considering how much blackthorn was checked!
- Why are we cutting blackthorn with butterfly eggs on it? It was growing by the access gates which need to be kept clear. To get to the hedge we needed to clear in front of it, most of this was old & not suitable for the butterfly. There is always some younger growth though that gets removed too.
- Reposted by Butterfly Conservation WarwickshireOur friends at the University of Florence have been looking into the aesthetic appeal of European butterflies and does this bias the species we choose to protect. You can help their research by completing a simple online survey. Many thanks in advance www.unveiling.eu?fbclid=IwZXh...

- Well done Ruth! An impressive list ⭐️
- I’ve been compiling a spreadsheet of leafmines that I’ve recorded in the VC38 section of SK10 between July and November 2025. There are 31 species, 8 of which were new for the gridsquare & most of the rest hadn’t been recorded since a 2012 survey. #teammoth @pmandrews1973.bsky.social
- Do take a look at West Midlands webpage - it looks great! Do give them a follow too & welcome them to Bluesky 😀 #butterflies #teammoth

- Anyone else still moth trapping? Still some lovely moths braving the winter! 😃
- A decent trap for the time of year, 7:5 with Rusty-dot Pearl being the most unexpected of the lot. 2 December Moths & Mottled Umber were the best of the rest; no Winter Moth surprisingly. #teammoth @pmandrews1973.bsky.social @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social
