- Reposted by Trevor MetcalfeThe Washington Post just laid off its entire award-winning photo team. They were our eyes in places we'll never see. It's a horrifying loss at a time when lying governments, propaganda and AI slop are on the rise.

- Reposted by Trevor MetcalfeThe comms rep just had no ability to comprehend that AI takes in the information that already exists in the world and repackages it. Our reporting had yet to be published and therefore wasn't out in the world hadn't been ingested by any chatbot. And they just... believed the chatbot.
- Reposted by Trevor MetcalfeWhile reporting this, I had something happen that's never happened. A comms rep for one of the co's disputed my reporting and said what I was telling them was untrue because it was not in Grok, xAI's chatbot. I was looking directly at the files. And this person was using AI to challenge the truth.

- Reposted by Trevor MetcalfeSeems as though they have laid off their entire photography staff. Photojournalists don’t just take photos, we report, we pitch, we take photos while our lives and safety are under threat. We explore our neighborhoods, restaurants and sports with a creative eye. Photojournalists do it all.
- Reposted by Trevor MetcalfeI have no interest in defending Jeff Bezos but this is extremely not what happened after he bought the Post. The newsroom added hundreds of journalists and dramatically expanded foreign coverage. Dozens of engineers were hired to support the Post's software business. Now he's undone all of that.
- Reposted by Trevor Metcalfe"We just want to do good work and each make a decent living and keep the lights on" is still a radical idea in comparison to how everything has always worked but it's not fantastical.

- Reposted by Trevor MetcalfeTrump is working hard to set/reinforce a frame that connects immigration, financial fraud, & election fraud. He and the right wing propaganda machine will keep producing “evidence” to fit this frame, then use it to justify attempts to suppress voters, kick voters off rolls, and delegitimize results.
- Trump: "Minnesota is a mess. There's something in the water up there. I won the 3 three times but I got no credit for it. It's a rigged state. Really rigged badly w/ the Somalians, and the Somalians & the theft. We gotta get 'em out, most of them. 92% don't work. Many of them drive Mercedes-Benzes."

- Trump: "These people were brought to our country to vote, & they vote illegally. The Republicans should say, we should take over the voting in at least 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that I won that show I didn't win. You're gonna see something in Georgia"
