Obviously small news outlets need money to get going, and the ones we have now can't replace newspapers, but they also cost a lot less once you take out all the inflated exec and "star" salaries, expensive real estate, dumb tech brained gambits, and, most importantly, infinite profit motive!
"We just want to do good work and each make a decent living and keep the lights on" is still a radical idea in comparison to how everything has always worked but it's not fantastical.

We were left out of the big podcast gold rush because we didn't want Infinite Expansion, we didn't want to sell our IP, we just wanted to make our show and pay everyone. But that also meant when the bubble popped we were one of the few that wasn't wiped out.
