- Reposted by Cathy LeggEven accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

- Oh Stella, our homegrown literary sensation, you were SO brave, and I don't think 1890s Australia was ready for you

- LOL, it's offensive
- The true watchdogs speak back to the lapdogs. This is heartbreaking, not least because they seem such thoroughly decent folks.
- I found this a gripping watch, as James Bennet reflects deeply on his tenure at NYT during the first Trump presidency, and mistakes made as he now sees them.

- Sad to see such an iconic Australian pastime has always been tainted by sexism. Reading 'Puberty Blues' in my teens should have tipped me off.

- My podcast episode is now live! What went wrong with neopragmatism and how a more realist pragmatism could help navigate our current bewildering epistemic predicament. #philsky #peirce
- Last week at the Capitol Theatre - two 'inner-city Melbourne Italian girls made good' teamed up to make a unique event. Loved listening to Patricia show and interpret her own work.
- First time in the studio at ABC Radio, interviewed by silver-voiced David Rutledge for a Philosopher's Zone episode on "pragmatist philosophy and post-truth". In the booth opposite, pretty sure that was Waleed Aly! #philsky #pragmatism
- This is so sad
- Good! Second case in 2 months. Arrogant Westerners.
- "Internal expertise [in Universities] all too often gets shunned in favor of contracting a global consultancy.” This creates an expertise deficit, since “the less an organization does something, the less it knows how to do it.” And the answer is...AI! Huh?
- Wish I could be there! Will be teaching
- ♥️😥
- A whole generation of early career scientists and physician-scientists, including colleagues and myself, are particularly vulnerable to these funding freezes and cuts, with jobs and careers depending on federal grants. #IDsky #Medsky #Episky www.science.org/content/arti...

- What I read this summer: sequel to #indigenousepistemology smash hit "Sand Talk" by my esteemed Deakin colleague Dr Yunkaporta. Here Dr Y addresses how to recognise, and deal with, bogus indigenous knowledge in a late capitalist world hungry for vicarious authenticity.
- What I read this summer: so evocatively written. Main character is a young male slave stuck in VA as his masters' fortunes have dwindled from their abuse of the land. Contains much real history - Underground Railroad, and Harriet Tubman, who I know now was an absolute badass. Highly recommended.
- New paper, arguing that genAI offers a profound reckoning for modern philosophy's 'representationalist realism', advocating instead a 'rich relational realism', as per (Gili and Maddalena 2022). I also draw on Peirce's semiotics to argue that LLMs can do symbols but not icons or indices.
- This is perfect
