- I know a lot of you do portable moth trapping and use sheets whilst you’re out and about. How do you hang the sheet, is it from a branch or do you have a frame that you use? If it’s a frame what one do you use? #teammoth

View full threadThe sheet on the ground is what I use now, very much like you and Ruth, but in flatter areas you don’t exactly stick out much
- Not too much flat around here 😅
- Much the same as Ruth, I usually put a sheet on the ground under the trap. I have draped a sheet over a dry stone wall behind the trap also.
- Jan finished with 4/5 in Marbury: Satellite NFY, 2 Pale Brindled Beauties, Spring Usher & Early Moth. I am copying you all 😆 Jan stats: 8/49, 19 traps, 4 Wogans! The other species were LBAM, Mottled Umber, Chestnut & March Moth #teammoth

View full threadI left it out all night…….the Irish rascal got me again. He’s 2-0 up on me now. #TeamMoth

- He was obviously doing the rounds last night 🥴
- I spent a short while looking for Luffia lapidella cases in a local graveyard this afternoon. Unfortunately I didn't find any, but did find this larva which I think is Marbled Beauty? #TeamMoth

- It would make sense, on a Lichen covered wall.
- Thanks 😀 I am lucky to have a really good spot here!
- It's pretty inspiring to see that good habitat can produce even in January.
- Very impressive!
- Some fairly heavy rain probably scuppered things last night, but at least the Irish man was kept at bay with a single Agonopterix heracliana/ciliella nfy. Jan stats: 6 traps, 3 Wogans, 3 moths of 3 species #TeamMoth

- I can't disagree on the whole. I do feel that getting out into good habitat is the answer but the weather is so crap that it's rarely possible.

- I'm pretty sure January was a complete blank here last year.
- January stats from CMO Traps 13 Moths 64 Species 12 Despite the horrible conditions throughout most of the month, our best ever. Satellite, LBAM and Double-striped Pug all new for January. @markgolley.bsky.social #TeamMoth #NorfolkMoths
- Very decent, and who doesn't love a Satellite 👌
