- Not exactly buzzing at CMO HQ last night as the raw easterly crept in again. A rather lively & lovely Pale Brindled Beauty was joined by a Chestnut in the 2/2 tally. @linnetincley.bsky.social #cleymothobs #norfolkmoths #teammoth

- One of two Early Moths I found near my greenhouse. It's great to have a new garden moth so early in the year. It would be nice to find a fresh one, though. #teammoth
- I know a lot of you do portable moth trapping and use sheets whilst you’re out and about. How do you hang the sheet, is it from a branch or do you have a frame that you use? If it’s a frame what one do you use? #teammoth
- Much the same as Ruth, I usually put a sheet on the ground under the trap. I have draped a sheet over a dry stone wall behind the trap also.
- The sheet on the ground is what I use now, very much like you and Ruth, but in flatter areas you don’t exactly stick out much

- I left it out all night…….the Irish rascal got me again. He’s 2-0 up on me now. #TeamMoth

- After eight Wogans, I finally got a moth – a lovely Pale Brindled Beauty NFY. I expect February to be just as disappointing as January, so I'm not anticipating a moth avalanche just yet. But it's nice to be able to pick up my camera again and take some photos. #teammoth #mothmonday #macromonday

- I spent a short while looking for Luffia lapidella cases in a local graveyard this afternoon. Unfortunately I didn't find any, but did find this larva which I think is Marbled Beauty? #TeamMoth
- Looks like it, Clive 👍

- I live in the middle of fields - a complete absence of light pollution around the cottage. A trail camera was accidently knocked-over one July evening last year & this is the flying moth/invertebrate life that was picked up by the infrared sensor. Notice the stars... #Teammoth

- First moth of the year. Agonopterix alstromeriana flying around in my car when I turned the heater on. #Teammoth
- Very impressive!
- Thanks 😀 I am lucky to have a really good spot here!
- Some fairly heavy rain probably scuppered things last night, but at least the Irish man was kept at bay with a single Agonopterix heracliana/ciliella nfy. Jan stats: 6 traps, 3 Wogans, 3 moths of 3 species #TeamMoth

View full threadI'm pretty sure January was a complete blank here last year.
- Same here. Looking at my notes I had 6 attempts and zero moths. Didn’t get any moths here until the 24th February, and very much doubt I’ll be trying again much before that date this year. Just flogging a dead horse here in the winter months.
- When do you usually begin trapping? I’ve had to be picky with the weather here, but there have been fruitful opportunities.
- For the past couple of years I’ve had a go from January onwards, with very little reward. I think I managed 8 consecutive Wogans for just one moth in January. The weather during this January has felt worse than the previous couple years, which is why I haven’t really been very inspired.

- Despite knowing that the temperature would drop dramatically, we put the trap out again and very quickly saw off Sir Terry with a Winter Moth and an LBAM. Final total 11/6, Dark Chestnut, Chestnut, Mottled Umber and a different A heracliana. @markgolley.bsky.social #TeamMoth #NorfolkMoths
- Untold fun & games with epic tech fail (actually no fun, just games) across the last few days. Back down to somewhere adjacent to calm vibes now, so here's some moths from a milder Tuesday this week. Winter Moths & Mottled Umbers. @linnetincley.bsky.social #cleymothobs #norfolkmoths #teammoths
