- Kabhi Kabhie is turning FIFTY soon, so we rewatched and dissected it. At its heart, is this a film about realizing that other people have their own stuff going on and it's not always about you? youtu.be/Du0QBBNBYao?... #desiwatch
- I have not been to Delhi (or India at all) in 10 years and yet here I sit on the other side of the world relishing a nugget of gossip from the writer/journo circles I was lucky enough to stumble into back in blog days. 🩷

- “‘She coped.’ They’ll put that on my grave.” #Shetland
- I want Ruth Calder's stompy boots and I want them now. (I also want her bangs but my hair will never do that.) (I also just love Ashley Jensen so much.) #Shetland

- Oh look it's me as I spend Saturday morning catching up on emails.
- True story: delicious ramen was found at a VFW.
- Reposted by Beth Loves Bollywood (Beth Watkins)Catherine O’Hara wardrobe polaroids from Second City, 1983. RIP an absolute legend & icon💔
- My life would be simpler if I could find delight outside of really booksmart and articulate people and not be such a hanger-on.
- One of these is embarrassingly precisely what I have been whinging to friends about all week but R feels existentially on point as well.
- Classic.
- One of the stranger star careers in Bollywood and DEFINITELY one of the most complicated celebrity personas. youtu.be/l1JsEuO2VKk
- Looking back at Raaz 2, Fashion, Tanu Weds Manu 2, Rangoon, and Panga...which can only mean that it's Kangana week on Filmi Ladies. She's the most complicated star we've ever discussed, that's for sure. youtu.be/l1JsEuO2VKk?...
- For once in my life I have guessed the murderer correctly! #Shetland
- Love it when the subtitler gives up. (As someone who regularly prepares text for publication, realizing that my note to the author got printed would be a NIGHTMARE, so this is a real "there but for the grace of Helen go I" moment.)

- Girl same.
- Madhabi Mukherjee should more often be in discussion for India's greatest actresses, IMO, but she is very mis-cast as a Vyjayanthimala-style Mughal-era princess in this. Biwajeet and his pompadour are similarly out of place. (Garh Nasimpur, 1968) #desiwatch
- Little arches and columns in the typeface in the titles of Garh Nasimpur, set in Shah Jahan's reign! Classic Bengali film typography is on another level.
- How I’m spending my snow day.
- Mood? (from a 1957 children’s cookbook)
- For Celsius friends, here’s my weekend.
- True in my museum career too! I often wonder how people who don’t have a range of historians among their nearest and dearest manage to muddle through life.
- Knitting cozy stuff.
- Survival strategy this week, apparently: * as many coffees as I want * cry any place, any time * empty dishwasher by dropping things on the floor * watch 50s Bengali films * lose work self in fiddly graphic design tasks * go to bed at 8:30 but don’t fall asleep until midnight

- What is this “cry myself to sleep” of which people speak? I’m at “cry myself to wide awake and into the void.”
- This week on Filmi Ladies: robots and disco and moonlight can only mean that we're talking about films that feature silver. youtu.be/luWJQtPDsKc?...
- Similar files pop up in our museum too and they are a curse - but also TBH we all love a mystery.
- * screams in Gen X *
- This is at least my fifth time watching Charulata, and once again it upturns me with moments I've never noticed before. #desiwatch
- On Soumitra Chatterjee's birthday, I am rewatching #Charulata yet again. This particular version has the most pleasing translation of samosa/singara that I have ever seen. #desiwatch

- Part 2 of our KHILADI discussion on Filmi Ladies. youtu.be/R0JWD8JWDG0?... And yes I need you to watch the song from Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi. WATCH IT. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tfkp...
- I divide each day into thirds and make a little mental tick mark each time I cry. All tears count, no matter how fast they subside or I'm able to stop them. I've cleared 24 hours, but I haven't cleared 32. This is no way to record life.

- This colorful pixel-y abstract houndstooth might be my favorite of Rishi Kapoor's many jumpers—and so early in his career, too. (Kabhi Kabhie, 1976)
