Mapmaker. Scribbler. Yeller. Painter now?
Following me is a poor life choice. Sorry.
- Hi, I’m Ken, and I am here to tell you things you won’t like. It’s my job. I sympathize with Julie Le and am on her side in general but she went about it the wrong way. /1
- I think some people may have thought i was exaggerating the extremely gendered maga perceptions of liberal weakness. I offer this as a rebuttal. bsky.app/profile/radl...
- First session at every academic conference should be at a Chuck E. Cheese or Dave & Buster's; game tickets you win get redeemed for total minutes you're allowed to speak at panels

- Yes. The best you can hope for at the moment is to strengthen the ability of states to fight deployment; to give them power to stop new detention facilities; to slow hiring, and shrink the recruiting pool. The Democrat demands accomplish that. You are not going to get abolition now.
- That mask is also popular with neo-Nazi accelerationist groups, which I think is really important to mention. Just like it's important to mention that ICE agents in Denver have been dropping Ace of Spades cards where they've kidnapped people. The white nationalist culture at work is clear.
- Read this whole astonishing document. it should be taught as an object lesson in what volunteering to assist a fascist government does to your mind, body, and soul.
- If you want to read the transcript of the February 3 hearing where Julie Le had her "this job sucks" meltdown, now you can: drive.google.com/file/d/1FnY2...

- Really nuts how many men were like "Me Too went too far, and I need to email Jeffrey Epstein about it."
- 1) PLEASE tell me this is real 2) lmao 3) elooooon, i have two solutions for your misery. one is to do the hard work of confronting the self centered fear underlying your massive ego. two? well I can't post it on this website lol

- Every time I see a new RTO policy this is what I see.
- Red Ogre (@ogre.red) gets rights to your work upon *submission*. And those rights are ridiculous. They can change your work, not credit you, use your work for advertising, or put it in an anthology. Don't submit to this one, folks.
- I think Strategy and Saylor have always been bad for Bitcoin, but then again, I just think they’ve always been bad. thecaspiancey.medium.com/microstrateg...

- As someone who owns no crypto and is critical of the industry: I’ve followed Bitcoin since 2017, I’ve watched it fall to $3,000, I’ve watched algo stablecoins wreak destruction, and I’ve seen SBF fuck everyone. Schadenfreude is fun and I fully support it, but crypto and Bitcoin will continue.

- At the core here you have to realize that: • speculation is actually a usecase these days • crime is actually a usecase and always has been • companies like Tether and others with billions on hand aren’t going anywhere (unfortunately) The ones getting leveled by moments like this are retail.
- A lot of Congressional Republicans do this for various things and it’s equal parts hilarious and fucking infuriating
- This makes me really sad. I’m so old and such a geography nerd I remember relying on the CIA World Factbook more than Wikipedia when I was young. It was an amazing resource.

- I mean, "DIY" doesn't INHERENTLY mean "shitty", but in practice it often does, because certain things are rarely needed by a given individual or household, so if you're DIYing it you'll never get enough practice to be any good at it. Just ask anyone who's ever had to deal with DIY electrical wiring.
- Somewhat ironically, this is a problem that both some leftist and populist-rightist movements share: their ideology *requires* them to believe that they are the authentic voice of The People and so they are ideologically constrained from recognizing that their ideas are not, in fact, popular.
- I want to be clear here though with 'some' because of course you have your AOC/Mamdani/(Warren-though-she-doesn't-take-the-label) left-aligned politicians who do recognize this reality and adopt alternate strategies (incrementalism, 'sewer socialism,' etc) to try to shift the public to their side.

- @cpsc.gov found this pic of a drawing my kid made & thought you might approve 😁
- Final note on this, I'm seeing people responding, "Stancil with communication skills!? LOLz" and...my dude. You know his name. You know what he stands for. You know what town he calls home and what he wants to do for it. He has annoyed you into winning. Communication skills.
- I find the @whstancil.bsky.social backlash strangely fascinating. At its core it seems to be a desperate effort by folks further to the left to avoid having a liberal (with communication skills) become the face of their movement. But, to be honest, winning was always going to require that.
- "This nationally recognized figure who lands major podcast appearances and gets his message into the Atlantic has bad communication skills" has to go right next to "Donald Trump is an uncharismatic politician" on the 'demonstratively untrue statements' board.
- A 'bad strategy' that achieves its goals is not a bad strategy.
- can’t not hear and see:
- “If I am killed doing this, throw my body at the White House, martyr the shit out of me & raise hell. Do not be sad. Do not think I would do anything differently. I would do it over & over again — this is too important to sit down & shut up and not do anything.” www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...

- One of my favorite datasets depicts waterways of San Francisco before colonialism drained and paved over many of them. Turns out one of the "lakes" was a copy of a copy of a copy etc etc of an ink spill on a Spanish chart from the 1700s that propagated all the way into a modern .geojson file.

- "I was told you're a monster," the hero said. "So they say," said the monster. "But you're beautiful!" "Thank you." "Have you always been a monster?" "Heh. I was a young maiden. But I did something forbidden." "And became a monster?" "Got named a monster." "What did you do?" "I hit back."
