- Congrats to @nenaoana.bsky.social, Marcello Natili and his moustache for new smarticle in @jeppjournal.bsky.social on public support for the EU during crises. A short 🧵: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
- Between 2005 and 2025, the EU had what experts technically refer to as “a total meltdown, repeatedly.” Every time Europe faced a new disaster—money stuff, human stuff, germ stuff, or sky being angry stuff—it responded by gluing more Europe onto itself.
- This process is called “binding,” which sounds like a weird Fifty Shades of Brussels thing, but here it just means the EU trying to do actual government things, like fixing stuff or being blamed for things it didn’t do.

- Entrance exams at Normale Sup' never disappoint and are deeper than they appear. Great exercise: allows for creativity, forces to critically mobilize acquired knowledge, especially in the age of AI and writing on PCs (it's pen and paper). Useful also to teach how to write well-structured essays.
- "Tu dois" is polysemic: can mean you owe, but also you must, the question is what is the connection between the two. Another layer is that the topic is embedded in quotation marks, so one way to problematize the essay would be ask who speaks, to whom, why etc.
- Topic is a very good excuse to ask what are we responsible for and under which conditions (and connect to idea of freedom), what we owe to each other and ourselves, and who decides and why. Many ways to skin this cat.
