Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz
Scientist studying development of embryos and building their models from stem cells. The author of #TheDanceofLife. Warsaw/Oxford/Cambridge/LA.
- Entering the new year with gratitude: for family, for friends, for trainees who push the ideas further and further, for collaborators who make the science and journey exciting, for a community that reminds me science and curiosity have to be protected. Wishing everyone enriching, colorful 2026!

In poster B365 at CellBio2025 Monday Dec 8 in the Quantitative Modeling session room 122, Mary Mirvis uses soft x-ray tomography to explore how packing interactions affect organelle shape and interaction.
- Fantastic place for science.

- John Gurdon, whom we lost today, was not only my mentor but a dear friend. We met 30 years ago in Cambridge. He believed in me more than I believed in myself. His generosity, boundless curiosity, and sense of adventure shaped my life as a scientist 🖤 He will be missed by many. Here us 10 years ago

- Thank you @natcellbio.nature.com for publishing our human amnion atlas. We aimed for this data to provide insights into aminon formation in the real embryo but also accurate reference points to generate meaningful stem cell-derived human embryo models
- My son’s last high school concert - we will be missing them 🥲

- What I love most about science are unexpected discoveries-finding what was thought not to exist or imagined differently, even against our hypotheses. We uncover them by following curiosity & intuition. That’s why we’re hosting WoodstockNightScience, to spark bold ideas. Join us! #Science #Innovation

- We are still not evacuated and have electricity, fortunately, though the Eaton Fire is close and frightening. The smoke in the air is overwhelming—we just bought 2 air purifiers and strongly recommend doing the same. Hoping it helps. Stay safe, everyone.
