Haaretz reports that only 12 Palestinians (9 women and 3 children) were allowed to cross from Egypt to Gaza yesterday.
They were taken by the pro-Israel Palestinian militia for interrogation by Israeli officials, and their luggage was mostly confiscated.
38 Palestinians were turned back to Egypt.
In Israel, the government openly says still hopes to push as many Palestinians out of the strip as part of "mass voluntary migration", and is extremely reluctant to allow anyone back into Gaza.
The logic of ethnic cleansing still dominates.
Feb 3, 2026 11:54Perhaps this just a fantasy of the extreme right. I am less sanguine. The resumption of full scale bombing and incursions, in Gaza and the West Bank, and the expulsion and killing of tens of thousands, appear to me a very real scenario.
