- It is an emergency that huge numbers of homes will be either worthless or significantly devalued in the coming years/decades because of environmental destruction, and there is no plan for working people in those places

- A majority of Massachusetts residents were not old enough to vote in 1994, 31 years ago, when rent control was banned. And those residents are disproportionately impacted by a system that places virtually no limits on rent gouging. It’s time for them to also have a say in how they’re treated

- What’s your favorite mayoral candidate housing policy? (1) Cuomo: Everyone is required to be rent burdened (2) Kraft: I’m giving tax breaks to landlords to raise rents at 4x inflation
- New research is showing that modern rent stabilization policies work and they do not meaningfully harm new development. This is a common sense policy rooted in basic fairness. We cannot have a dignified housing system if landlords can rent gouge everyone. bloustein.rutgers.edu/some-studies...

- Cuomo attacking Mamdani over his rent is wild bc it shows how people’s brains are pickled into thinking everyone should spend half their money on rent. $2300 is still not cheap and it is a good thing, actually, when policies allow someone to remain in their community and eventually earn more $.
- Mamdani has Cuomo out here campaigning about how he’s proud that he proposed raising new revenue to address people’s needs, instead of cutting it. This is how a strong left movement can change the conversation about what we all deserve. Love to see it 🥹
