- Rene Magritte (1898-1967) was a Belgium surrealist who did not become famous until his 50's. Title: Golconda Although the title is widely known as a city in India, it had a different meaning or slang in Magritte's time. It referred to wealth and/or abundance.
- Although he became well known by his hobby of painting, French artist Henri Rousseau (1844-1910) worked in what was known as a primitive style. His day job was as a tax collector! La Charmeause de Serpents (The Snake Charmer).

- I've been many times (my now husband is from London) and love it. Btw, I was accepted to the Courtauld Institute to study conservation. In the end I couldn't finance it and studied in Italy.

- Im so glad the Getty Museums survived last years fires 💜. They are a gift to CA & the world. Seeing this post reminded me of a documentary of his work that was haunting & meditative.
