Tyler Weaver
Assistant Professor, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, UVA School of Medicine. Studying mechanisms of chromatin-based DNA repair.
- Check out the perspective my lab wrote with @freudlab.bsky.social. We provide our perspective on recent work describing the structural basis of chromatin-based base excision repair!
- 🎉 Joint paper from the Freudenthal and @tmweaver.bsky.social Labs! Abbey Vito’s first publication discusses a tug-of-war between BER enzymes and chromatin for access to damaged DNA, a battle central to genome stability. Built on Tyler's foundational work! tinyurl.com/ywkt2bt5
- Reposted by Tyler WeaverSee our paper “Mechanism of trinucleotide repeat expansion by MutSβ-MutLγ and contraction by FAN1”. Using biochemistry, we show how DNA incisions by the MutLγ nuclease can lead to expansions, and how expansion is prevented by FAN1. Well done Issam and Valentina! www.nature.com/articles/s41...
- The final piece of my postdoctoral work in the @freudlab.bsky.social was recently published! Quite amazing what this small little repair polymerase can do to fill 1-nt gaps in chromatin. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

- Reposted by Tyler WeaverI am extremely proud to see our work about Hepatitis B now published in @cellpress.bsky.social From basic research to identifying the key step of infection & a potential first drug for curing this devastating disease. This has been an incredible journey.🧵 www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...
- We are still accepting application for the Postdoc position in my lab! We have some exciting projects at the interface of DNA repair and chromatin biology. If interested, please get in touch or apply for the position through the link below! jobs.virginia.edu/us/en/job/R0...

- My lab at UVA is looking to hire a Lab Technician to join our team! This position is ideal for someone interested in obtaining research experience prior to graduate and/or medical school. jobs.virginia.edu/us/en/job/UO...
- Reposted by Tyler WeaverIt is still possible to apply to this postdoc position in my group if you are motivated by using your QM/MM and MD skills to study the fascinating histone post-translational modifications! 🥳 Deadline is the 1st of March #job #compchem #histones #DNA Apply on the CNRS website : lnkd.in/eNxR-TPH
- First post here, how exciting!! 🥳 📣💻[JOB OFFER] I am looking for a postdoc with experience in QM/MM, MD and biosystems, and who would be motivated to study the formation mechanisms of oxydative histone modifications. Please share! #compchem #histones #PTM #redox www.linkedin.com/posts/activi...

- The Weaver Lab is officially open today…Let’s see if we can fill up this empty lab space!
- Reposted by Tyler WeaverIs chromatin ordered or disordered? It all depends on the linker DNA length. Check our latest work with Mike Rosen and Sy Redding. We explore how changes in linker DNA length (as small as 1 bp) fine-tune chromatin structure, between order and disorder, and the properties of chromatin droplets

- Our preprint from earlier this year on the oxidation-induced mutational landscape in human cells was just published! www.nature.com/articles/s41... I’m still amazed how much chromatin structure impacts oxidation-induced mutagenesis. Our cryo-EM contribution in this work provides a glimpse into why!

- Reposted by Tyler Weaverwww.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... incredible study from Huabin Zhou and the Villa & Rosen labs -- a blueprint for mapping human chromatin with cryo-ET. The future of chromatin structural analysis in situ has arrived.

- Time to introduce myself! Incoming Assistant Professor at UVA-SOM. Interested in chromatin structure and DNA repair. Here is some of my final work in the @freudlab.bsky.social, where we determine how 1-nt gaps in the nucleosome are filled during DNA repair. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
