- On the subject of The Muppet Show, I have probably given more thought than strictly necessary to *what my backstage plot would be* if I guest starred, especially for someone not involved in the performing arts in *any* capacity for 30 years, and who never could sing.
- As an NDP member, looking ahead to both the vote to select our new federal leader, and the role of the NDP in our politics after that, I just have to say: If the NDP can't even acknowledge that Canada needs to get out of the fossil fuels business, as soon as possible, what are we even FOR?
- Rebecca Watson has absolutely earned a victory lap or ten. I learned a lot from the appalling way that she and others who pointed out misogyny, racism, and other bigotries in atheist and skeptical communities were targeted for harassment and abuse, and by her courage and integrity in response.
- Okay, you guys wanted some fun tea on Richard Dawkins? Here you go: one reason he may have gotten super duper angry about me talking about misogyny in atheism skepchick.org/2026/02/epst...
- That's why I will not subscribe to your Substack. I try not to even read Substack. If you're still using Substack I beg you to please move to another platform because I WANT to read your work.

- This is not a fully-formed thought by any means, but I'm starting to think that at least one less-appreciated side effect of streaming production and release schedules is that shows end up far outlasting their cultural moment, to their detriment?

- Reposted by Stephen Geigen-MillerI want everyone who has spent years in therapy wondering what is wrong with them, wondering why they had so many bad relationships, why they felt so much dread, to know that it was in part because you were living in a world run by evil, evil people and you could tell that somewhere deep down
- Way to go, Dawkins. You aligned yourself with a cabal of billionaire child rapists and ended up in the Epstein files because you couldn't stop crying about fucking Elevatorgate.

- Reposted by Stephen Geigen-MillerAs I dive back into work, I see the 'critics are mean sometimes!' discourse is happening again. Real quick then: -My journalistic mentor told me something I've never forgotten. Getting any project over the line is essentially impossible. Anyone who does it earns a modicum of respect for the work.
- Des Moines friends, this is all unofficial and unconfirmed. But please, please be careful and get ready.

- While randomly thinking of Dr. Snuggles, the very weird Anglo-Dutch cartoon from my childhood - as one does - it occurred to me: Winnie Vinegar-Bottle is such a *breathtakingly* good name for a witch that it practically anticipates *Pratchett*.

- I've been invested in the kakapos and New Zealand's efforts to conserve the species since I first read about them in Douglas Adams and Mark Carwardine's book Last Chance to See. This is wonderful news!
- Last week no living person had seen a #kakapo lay an egg. Now you can watch it on our webcam: Rakiura laid her second today (15:01 on 25/1/2025). She'll probably lay another in 3 days' time. #conservation #kakapo2026 #birds www.doc.govt.nz/our-work/kak...

- If you have any information, please share it. As Canadians, it often feels like there's little we can do to help our American friends. But identifying these companies and holding them accountable? That, we can do.
- Dave Sim?! We can and should talk about how to acknowledge a creator's body of work and contributions to a medium without endorsing them as a person. But this strikes me as a bad idea. It's a worse time than ever to overlook overt misogyny and bigotry in who we choose to honour.

- Reposted by Stephen Geigen-MillerThis is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.

- There's a lot - a LOT - that I don't agree with Carney on (like, I am extremely mad about most of his domestic policy priorities) but this? Holy SMOKES. Good stuff, let's hope he backs it up with more action.
- Carney: "American hegemony in particular helped provide public goods, a stable financial system... this bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition... recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as a weapon. Tariffs as leverage ... "
