- I've a couple of feeders in my garden. The pigeons have become regulars, hoovering up spilt seed. The feeders get refilled regularly, so that the pigeons now see me as their 'provider'. - They are not from North America. They are rock doves. Their instinct is to make nests in rocks like the coves of Ireland. They are not instinctually guided to making nests in trees.

- Pigeons, formally “rock doves” are my absolute favorite bird. They are one of the most intelligent birds on the planet. Their beaks are distinct, the upper is not a hard surface but soft skin which is a sign of higher evolution in birds.
