- If you see this, post a picture of a Master System game.
- Read all about how it was made in our latest "Behind the Design" piece! www.sega-16.com/2026/01/behi...
- Reposted by SEGA-16Taking a rest from stage building to work on some small cosmetic improvements. Added some fast background stars to the entry and to some boss fights. #mastersystem #homebrew

- Reposted by SEGA-16reminded of how Data East's Dragon Gun has boss backgrounds that are currently unemulated because... it's literal MPEG video being decoded by hardware on-board.
- Two down, one to go! Landstalker's going to be a big one!
- 8,000 words done on Shining Force. I thought this would be the larger article of the Climax trilogy, but Shining in the Darkness is actually 3k larger. I think Landstalker might top them both. Sooo much juicy development info for that game!
- Pigsy has released an update video on his Symphony of the Night demake for Genesis! He shows off the clocktower stage and says an update video for the Colosseum stage is coming this month. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnFr...
- Six months since the last update. Hopefully, this is still in development.
- You KNOW he's doing this because he knows Sonic is coming to get him.
- Reposted by SEGA-16My latest co-authored article with Megan Condis was just published in Games: Research and Practice. And it's open access! Check out "Rad Dudes, Rude ‘Tude, and the Family, Too: How Nintendo and Sega Advertisements Shaped the Image of Gaming in the 1990s."
- They are finally all mine! I think this is the full set.

- Coming on Monday: Our latest "Behind the Design" article takes a deep look at the making of one of the best racing games ever made. If you love Sega Rally, you'll want to read all about its conception, development, and release!
- Oh man, this Shining in the Darkness article is HUGE, chock full of development information. I'm loving the way it's turning out, and I hope you all will too.

- Can anyone located a high quality scan of this ad? I need it for my SitD artlce, and this is the only one I can find. It's too small and blurry. Thanks!

- SegaNet! I had internet access at my university, but it was the first internet connection I had at home.
- Reposted by SEGA-16Mega Parodius (Megadrive) Scaling !! Went crazy, decided to do the hardest bit (possibly) in the port next , Stage 8 Boss !! Horizontal scaling only at present , vertical is next . Horizontal is much harder to achieve at speed. 1,2,3,4x scale over 74 updates. He's 21kb of tiles ie massive !!

- I was debating if I should keep these "Behind the Design" articles short because people don't like long topics, but I think it's better to tell the complete story. There's such great history in their creation that I don't want to leave anything out! Sega Rally is 10k, and SitD is going the same way.
- Reposted by SEGA-16Several new Ecco the Dolphin products and games in development Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time remaster + third game were announced last year www.gematsu.com/2026/01/mult...
- One of the more extensive write ups in my Game Gear book is on Aleste because I love the series so much!

- A development room inside SIMS Co., Ltd. circa late 1991. SIMS was established in June 1991 as a joint venture between Sega and former former Representative Director and President of Sanritsu Electric, Mamoru Shigeta. Sega held a 67% interest, and Shigeta had the rest. Image: MD Fan.
- I finished the Mega Mode on Final Fight MD. It was a blast, but I noticed that with Maki, you can't pick up pipes. Knives and katanas were no problem, but she wouldn't pick up any pipes at all. I also used Haggar and had no problem. @mxretrodev.bsky.social
- Reposted by SEGA-16Every time I finish making a stage in Razing Core I replay the whole game up to the end of that stage. I can honestly say this is the most fun I've had playtesting one of my own games so far. I hope everyone else will feel the same. #homebrew #mastersystem

- Are there any decent 3rd-party PS5 controllers? The drift in mine Sony one is so bad that I want to toss it across the room. I do NOT want to reward these fuckers with another $60 for their terrible product.

- It's here! Framed and mounted, and I LOVE IT.
- A new interview dropped with some great Sega Rally info, so I updated mine (added 3 paragraphs!). There's more coming later, so I think I will just publish the article and then update it as new info emerges. The piece has already hit 10k and is the largest one I've ever done for the site!

- Breaking: We've learned that after capture, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was allowed to take his Master System and 3D glasses with him on his way to prison. No word if he was forced to play Lord of the Sword until he confessed his crimes.
- The "Behind the Design" article on the arcade version of Sega Rally is done! Look for it at the end of the month. Next up, a trilogy of deep dive articles on Climax/Sonic! Software Planning games: Shining in the Darkness, Shining Force, and Landstalker!
- Sega innovated in several ways with 1982’s Zaxxon and created a solid and challenging shooter that has become a classic. However, some may not enjoy the lack of depth find the gameplay frustrating if they’re not using a control stick. www.sega-16.com/2026/01/zaxx...
- Damn. He was my grail of Sega interviews. I was able to interact through a 3rd party but never got to spoke to him. He was a true coin-op legend and will be missed. R.I.P. 🙁 www.replaymag.com/segas-dave-r...
