- Yep, it has English subs for both the 1998 sound renewal and the original theatrical mix, plus it also includes the Bandai Visual dub.
- Vol. 1 of GQuuuuuuX on BD obtained! Too bad Amazon didn’t ship Patlabor 1’s 4K with it.

- How convenient for me that I have fully custom subs for it using that exact style then lol
- A couple of comparisons from the BD (1+3) and Amazon versions (2+4). Small animation corrections to the shadows on the BD in the lower right and left. Interested to see if I notice any other tweaks. The BD definitely wins in the compression department though (assuming Bluesky doesn't make it worse)
- What's interesting is there is a lot of extra noise in the background of the OP on the Amazon version, and not just in the shot I posted but also on the title card which has similar art. Almost feels like oversharpening causing them to be more prominent than they should be but I'm not sure.
- Axl Rose, Duff McKagan, Slash, and Izzy Stradlin are definitely all Gundam names. (Sorry Steven Adler, your name is too normal)

- I ended up ditching mine back when Amazon did DVD trade-ins, if you dug around, you could find old item pages for discs that had huge trade-in values compared to the default SKU for a title. Those discs were trading in for $2-3 each normally, but the alternate entries were giving $35-45 each.

- Sunrise has had that problem with their subbed theatrical screenings for too long. @marcfbr.bsky.social and I saw the Gundam 00 movie at AX 2019 (in 4DX 🤮) and it had issues with subs that got stuck on, disappeared too fast, stacked up weirdly... just a mess. Sucks that it's still an issue.

- I've been watching the progress on this on and off and it's really impressive just how far it has come already. I've played with some of the released AI models that people have put together for it and it really is night and day. Someone posted a bunch of comparisons last year: slow.pics/c/mbWy78hs
- With Digimon Movie Collection 2 showing up in people's hands, how about a little peek at one of the most complex sub effects we've done so far? The original dub replaced the Japanese credits with a Windows-themed overlay, so we copied that for ours.

- As promised a few days ago, here's another peek at the credits we did for Digimon Movie Collection 2, this time for the dub credits for Movie 6. These were font matched and given the same kind of styling as the original broadcast version.
- We reformatted ours a bit to try and minimize how much of the picture was covered, while still using the same glowing white border to cover things as the original pictured here. Really pleased with the end result even if it's not as technically complex as the ones for Movie 5.

- Shot's not even in the trailer. Every cockpit shot @jaskel.side6.space and I can find looks nothing like that and the trailer is FULL of high-detail control panels and background textures.

- Yeah, when that shot in the water still has crisp elements, something I wouldn't actually have balked at being smeary either due to the water effects or video compression, that says a lot on its own.
- Oh good, it was deleted. I'm all for calling out AI when it shows up legitimately, but don't accuse devs of using AI by posting fake shots.

- Finally done with this disaster. Yeah, reportedly Disc 2 now has glitched frames in an episode that the v1 disc didn’t, but I’m ripping these to my media server and not looking back so I can work around that.

- Unless it contains the missing stretch goal content (it won't), they can save themselves the pennies for the disc and the postage and keep it. Nothing they can send me now will erase the bad taste this has left and I already have fixed the things they left screwed up using JP BD sources.

- I have to assume the wording on EW is bad because newly-animated scenes? Special Edition has always had additional scenes that the OVA didn't but that wouldn't be new. Only thing I can guess is they're also showing the 30th Anniversary promo, which was newly animated. bsky.app/profile/wtk....

- That's what this one on another server is for once it finishes deleting the temporary storage it was used for while migrating some other data around. Not quite enough space for a total backup once I have enough data, but I can always rerip a lot of the BDs if I had to.

- I need to get Windows back on mine. When I switched to the OLED model, the driver support for Windows 11 was lacking so I had to go back to carrying a laptop, but since they added the necessary drivers, it's viable again.

- They had a bunch of signs up when I did my weekly grocery store run yesterday at the entrance and all over the checkstands, both the staffed ones and self-checkouts, mentioning the penny shortages as well.
- New Dirty Pair update: replacement discs should be coming in early November, including the fix for the right-balanced audio in Episode 10. Can't complain about fast turnaround on this one.
- Someone in the update's comments listed an issue with the clean OP on Flash (specifically the 3rd one, on the last disc) and it is glitched on two frames. Checked the JP BD box and it's fine. I'd take screencaps but they're black frames so nothing of interest to see in the undamaged versions...

- Yeah, I know e-signing is impacted as that was what my end user was having problems with and I found Adobe mentioning it specifically, but I assume other parts of Acrobat are acting up too.
