- My ❤️ is happy. Visiting my colleague Song An’s math methods class and thinking of @triangleman.bsky.social’s puzzles and Nick Johnson’s current research. This was the pick-me-up I so desperately needed.
- The fact that people actually have to cut their nails is wild to me.
- I will not resubmit a revised Frankenpaper. I will not resubmit a revised Frankenpaper. I will not resubmit a revised Frankenpaper.
- This is the story we need to be sharing. It’s the guns.

- Reposted by Robyn K. Pinilla, Ph.D.A NYT comment: “Humans ate organic, whole foods for millennia. They got plenty of exercise, lived without plastics. Until the mid-1800s, life expectancy at birth was 39. Food may be good medicine, but it’s not a panacea. Medical advances—like vaccines—have doubled the human lifespan, not superfoods”

- The yellow tie makes him look far worse. Or maybe they put some extra blonde colored hairspray?
- Everybody I know is posting about conferences and summer learning and I’m just running (and riding, and swimming) away from it all.
- In the spirit of @howiehua.bsky.social… I am excited to announce that I am an assistant professor of early childhood education at Colorado College! I didn’t get a job here or anything, but I’m physically on their campus and that’s my title 🤣 Beautiful track in the Springs.
- As an athlete, I now see food as fuel. But I didn’t always. Growing up, Diet Coke, Snackwell cookies, and published diets listing half a grapefruit with a boiled egg and black coffee for breakfast destroyed many of us. I still have body image issues. But fueling activity matters more.
- What about those of us living with high risk individuals? As a Novid, I don’t want to get sick. But even more so, I don’t want to bring it home.
- BREAKING: FDA says covid boosters now only for those over 65 or with preconditions. www.statnews.com/2025/05/20/f...
- We were pulled aside going through border patrol. No complaint. We told them CBD gummies were previously in a backpack. They tossed our vehicle & let a large dog trample all over it. The dog damaged the interior & somehow we get yelled at by agents, blamed because of the potential trace of substance
- First roundtable of #aera2025 was a success! Such good conversations around community engagement with @cawiltshire.bsky.social and our new friends!
- You know what I miss about twitter? I miss the AERA helpers. Where is the delightful help I need when the app seems *so excellent* yet again?

- A new view in an upside down world. The PhD was the half-marathon. Tenure is the full. How many researchers are also physical endurance athletes? Becoming a triathlete makes total sense to me. 🧠🏊♀️🚴♀️🏃♀️🧠
- This reminds me that if you stop testing for Covid, it won’t spread. If we have no data, we can’t decline.
- I keep hearing the question: What's the biggest impact of Trump education disruptions so far? My answer: Research. Data. Knowledge on how students are doing and how schools might improve. All of this is being decimated. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/12/u...

- Call me crazy, but I just keep thinking that there is a REASON it’s called rocket science and that maybe funding STEM education programs is a good choice instead of ripping the Department of Ed and NSF apart.
- I haven’t been posting as much. Honestly, I haven’t been keeping up as much. It’s for my health. You can join me.
- Hey Federal workers: Don’t forget to turn on your OOO message when leaving the office for the weekend so that the inboxes of anyone emailing you on a Friday night with be flooded and/or know that you adhere to your work hours, as required by your agency.
- Reposted by Robyn K. Pinilla, Ph.D.Please look up the influenza epidemic of 1918-19 to understand that the CDC not selecting strains for next year’s vaccines sets the stage for a public health calamity that will, without doubt and at bare minimum, catastrophically and directly impact people you know. This is a five alarm fire.
- Why isn’t this on the national news? A bus carrying high school athletes traveling from Las Cruces to a swim meet in Albuquerque was boarded by border patrol agents who demanded students (read: minors) to defend their citizenship.

- Training for Boulder 70.3 starts tomorrow! The cool part is, I’m doing this with Meat Fight, the most bad ass funlathopists and athletes I know; we raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and support athletes with MS. project-13-boulder-703-2025-34013.causevox.com/p/robyn-davi...

- Excited to share this publication on how teachers can utilize a spatial reasoning task to estimate children’s shape composition skills! Co-authors Sarah Wellberg, Moraima Castro-Faix, and @leanne-kg.bsky.social. Read it online here link.springer.com/epdf/10.1007...
- Felt an earthquake tonight. It was a 4.9 with a 2.6 aftershock in Toyah, TX, about 200 miles east of me. I really hope we get to keep the USGS. earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/...
- Y’all, we did a bad thing. We abandoned MapQuest and our paper print outs long ago. Alas, their map is accurate and I’m glad they still exist! They even have an app now (though road trips 20 years ago with all the paper were charming).
- Please, tell me again how this was unexpected… Completely predictable to anyone paying attention.

- Day 2 Recap An early morning run through corridors to the dark side. A Texas-sized group for affiliate breakfast. More EC MTE collaboration and fun. Exiting this palace of lights for the first time since arriving. Let’s now close out #AMTE2025
- Day 1 recap: Thinking about next steps in math identity work. Supporting STaRs (and learning about cool research). Playtime. Celebrating the best STaR mentor. Let’s go Day 2! #AMTE2025
- Sharing to remind myself to listen (and share with students)
- Moment of honesty: I did NOT want to travel this week. I was stuck in freeze mode, going through the motions. Now, in this room, at #AMTE2025, life feels better. Grateful for community and to share space.
- Study idea: Investigate the psychological and physiological impacts of NYT breaking news notifications (or whatever outlet really) by education level to determine when apathy occurs.
- Watching these helicopters fly past my office window along the border today was surreal. In the last year and a half I’ve lived here, it’s been generally calm. Then inauguration day came and it’s angry chaos.

- It’s all fun and games until you realize before bed that your outdoor adventures on a beautiful desert day led to your annual February sunburn.
