- Yes, we're on Bluesky! You can follow the national org at @cape-acme.bsky.social and the BC committee @cape-bc.bsky.social . :)
- I forgot to mention that people in my neighbourhood Facebook group are mobilizing against bus lanes, with the justification that *shudder* it would reduce on-street parking. So it’s important they hear from 🚎 supporters too! Please fill out the survey. survey.vancouver.ca/s3/Hastings-...
- TransLink & the City of Vancouver are consulting on changes to Hastings, including all-day bus lanes - yay! If you take the bus on Hastings (or just want fewer cars in the neighbourhood), please fill out the survey and make your voice heard:
- Points worth sharing: • Bus lanes are most urgently needed west of Renfrew, where delays are worst • Hastings buses serve thousands of riders daily - students, families, workers - & they shouldn’t have to be stuck in traffic • Better transit is essential with the new PNE venue coming online 🚌 🚎 🚍 ❤️
- Shoulda tagged @movementyvr.bsky.social
- I'm so excited that @visionzerovancouver.ca has hired Margie as our first staff person! I believe in this org wholeheartedly and just signed up to donate monthly to help make an even bigger impact this year. Please consider doing the same!
- 🎉Exciting News 🎉 as of last week, we've hired our first ever staff person! Anyone who's worked with us before will know @margiesanderson.bsky.social. She's been with us since day one, and is absolutely perfect for the role - 2026 will be a huge year! More on this, and a look back on 2025:
- OneCity Vancouver will be running a mayoral candidate in 2026. If you want a say in who will challenge Ken Sim & advance a progressive vision for our city, now's the time. To vote in the OneCity mayoral contest on Feb 11, you must become a member by Jan 11. I strongly encourage you to sign up. 1/

- Agreed. Kennedy Stewart has apparently floated the idea of running again, which would be absolutely infuriating if it came to pass.
- If you want a mayor who will unseat Ken Sim and help usher in bold, progressive leadership for Vancouver, consider becoming a OneCity member before January 11 and voting in the nomination. This is how change starts. 4/ www.onecityvancouver.ca/membership_c...
- Here's a nice profile of William from The Tyee if you'd like to learn more. 5/
- I'll be voting for William Azaroff. One big reason: he's a serious housing, climate, & environmental health champion. He's been a leader on getting gas out of buildings, the unglamorous but essential work of cutting emissions and protecting public health. 2/
- He’s also deeply committed to reducing car dependence. Through his leadership at Modo car co-op, of which I'm a longtime member, he’s helped advance practical alternatives to car ownership. He cares about street safety and seems eager to learn more about how systems can better protect people. 3/
- I guess because it was after 10pm on a Friday, my Lime scooter app gave me a sobriety test tonight. Which is nice, I guess, but wouldn’t it be cool if we made cars do that instead?

- I’m sure it doesn’t know.

- Apparently!

- A little animation pops up of driving down a road, and you have to click on a stop sign as soon as it appears. It measures reaction time. This is the first time I’ve seen it, but I’ve only been using Lime for about a month and rarely so late in the evening.
- A Christmas tragedy in one photo. The whole family spent all week working on this 1500-piece puzzle. Turns out we only had 1498 pieces.
- These are the things I hope we’ll someday look back on with the same incredulity, from most to least likely: -burning gas inside our homes -driving giant vehicles everywhere with little meaningful restriction -killing sentient animals for our taste preferences
- Vancouver Council votes tomorrow on a motion to ban right turns on red at Vancouver’s most dangerous intersections. It would make things much safer for people walking, biking, and rolling — and the deadline to send comments or sign up to speak is in less than an hour. Send your comments now!

- Unfortunately, yes. Changing that would require action by the province; it’s not something the City can do.
- Lime has finally expanded its scooter share program into my neighbourhood and I’m so excited! This might be my new fave way to get around. I took an extra kid to soccer practice today, so we took an Evo there. But since it was just me on the way home, I switched to a scooter. So fun and convenient!

- Yesssss I love that!

- So you can bet ABC will vote against it. 🫠

- Looks like someone just learned that austerity isn’t so great after all!
- Today, despite hundreds of people speaking and thousands writing in opposition, Vancouver's Mayor and his ABC majority on council passed their "zero means zero" budget, which freezes property taxes for those fortunate enough to own homes at the expense of everyone else. 1/
-
View full threadCouncillour @lennynanzhou.bsky.social added an amendment, which ABC also passed, to fund some core services by sacrificing energy retrofits. This funding would have been spent installing life-saving heat pumps in SROs & low-income housing. Instead, more people will die in the next heat dome. 3/
- The good news is that 2026 is an election year. Let's make vote out everyone in green here. Remember those names, & support those looking to unseat them. Thanks to @lucymaloney.bsky.social @seanorr.bsky.social @ptfry.bsky.social and @rebeccaleebligh.bsky.social for standing up for Vancouverites. 4/
- Although the proposed budget has very little detail - it's only 23 pages - the size of the cuts ensures that important programs vital to support social services, community programming, safe streets, arts and culture, and climate action will be impacted. Any claims to the contrary are gaslighting. 2/

- With respect, if cities want scooter riders to ride in designated cycle lanes, they need to build them everywhere. Shaming users for choosing the option that keeps them safer, when the alternative is sharing unsafe streets with speeding multi-ton vehicles, is unhelpful at best & harmful at worst.
- Sign the letter, Vancouver!
- Vancouver Council votes this week on a budget that could slash programs supporting public health & climate action. We're submitting this open letter tomorrow. We have >200 signatures so far, including almost 100 health professionals. Help us reach 300 by morning! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

- Maybe a handful?
- Over 600!
- Tomorrow is the only opportunity for the public to speak out on this tragedy of a budget. Over 300 people have signed up so far. If enough people speak out, the hope is that the vote will be delayed. Please sign up! You can speak over the phone; it’s easy. Deadline to sign up is today at 5pm.
- We’ve just learned that Mayor Ken Sim plans to eliminate Vancouver’s entire Climate and Sustainability Office under his “Zero Means Zero” budget. This would gut the city’s climate team and undo decades of work that protect residents’ health and safety. www.nationalobserver.com/2025/11/11/n...
- The climate & sustainability department stands to be eliminated entirely. Planning, urban design, & sustainability faces 14% cuts. Arts, culture, & community services - 12% cuts. But police budget gets a 10% increase. 🙄 Please sign up. If you’re nervous, COPE is holding a training tonight at 6.
- Have you cancelled your Spotify account yet? If the ICE recruitment ads aren’t enough to convince you, just a reminder that they pay their artists like shit and their CEO invests millions in AI drone weaponry. @qobuz.bsky.social is a great alternative.
- Spotify is crashing HARD because of the boycott. Their stock dropped 11% in value over the last month. Let’s keep this going! Tell everyone you know to boycott Spotify. There are plenty of alternatives that don’t run ICE advertisements and screw over artists. We made it easy at boycottspotify.com.
- The ABC members of Vancouver Council really said "f*** them kids" today. First, they killed a motion to make it safer for kids to trick or treat in their neighbourhoods on Halloween - the most dangerous night of the year for child pedestrians - by making it easier to close streets to car traffic.
- Then, the ABC members of council unanimously voted against lowering the city’s voting age to 16 — without even speaking to the motion. It was an incredible show of disrespect to the many young people who took the time to share their voices with council.
- In 2026, we'll get the chance to replace these councillors who keep voting against the rights and interests of children and youth. Start organizing now; find the local movement or party that reflects your values - for me, that's @onecityvan.bsky.social - and help build something better.
- Halloween is the most dangerous night of the year for kids walking outside: ten times higher risk of being hit by a driver. Our kids deserve better. Support @lucymaloney.bsky.social 's “Safe Streets for Trick or Treats” motion coming to Vancouver council next week. 1/2
- If you can, skip driving on Halloween night. Fewer cars mean safer streets for kids running house to house. And parents, please rethink driving to “destination” trick-or-treat spots. Stay local, or bike/transit if your neighbourhood isn't lively. Let the kids have the streets for one night. 2/2
- After years as a daily Spotify user, I finally switched to Qobuz. Between low artist pay, fake/AI “artists,” platforming hate speech, running recruitment ads for ICE, & the CEO’s AI weapons investments, I couldn’t justify staying any longer. Qobuz is great so far; consider making the switch!
- Turns out I'll need to find a YouTube alternative as well. www.latimes.com/world-nation...
- With everything else going on, the Tylenol “announcement” may seem minor. But it’s not. The Trump admin’s lies about acetaminophen are part of the same agenda: controlling women’s bodies, demonizing them, and making them suffer needlessly. A policy of intentional cruelty and othering.

- '“We recognize that LNG facilities, along with natural gas pipelines...has deeply affected Indigenous communities & ways of life, & that Ksi Lisims LNG will contribute to cumulative effects on ecosystems & communities,” [Tamara Davidson & Adrian Dix] wrote.' But we're gonna approve it anyway!
- B.C. just approved one of its largest LNG projects yet. Ksi Lisims LNG will ship 12M tonnes of gas a year overseas. Ministers say it will benefit the Nisg̱a’a Nation — but also admit it will worsen greenhouse gas emissions. #bcpoli
