- @freshwaterscience.bsky.social any idea what the chances are of an extension on the abstract submission dates for the Spokane meeting are? Asking for a friend. Actually no, let's be honest, I'm asking for myself.

- I guess we're using #2026SFS I think I get that wrong every year 😖
- 🧪 Very excited to learn that a recently graduated wundergrad from my lab got funding to present their research at #SFS2026 in Spokane in May! Watch this space to learn if/how Aq. macroinvertebrate 🦟 body size distributions ∆ in response to rapid environmental warming🌡️in mountain 🏔️ environments 🤠

- "Zombie" paper finally got a decision of major revision! It's not across the finish line yet but I feel like this thing has been in the wings for YEARS at this point. 🤞 For a good second round 🤞
- I'm all about #NoKings but I think the EPA may have taken it too far
- Sounds like a @cultureshipnames.bsky.social to me. I'm guessing VFP class
- Pleased to announce that we are looking for a post-doc to join @wesnerlab.bsky.social to study the relationship between body size, temperature and nutrients in stream ecosystems. Position details can be found here: yourfuture.sdbor.edu/postings/45969 Happy to answer any questions!

- I know exactly what I want to say, so writing this MS report will be quick. ... 4 hours and 2 R simulations later... Report submitted ✅
- I show the PBS "Serengeti Rules" documentary, which strongly features Jim Estes's research, to my intro class every semester. Sad to hear of his passing.

- No views from today's trail run, but I scoped out the last unknown-to-me section for my next race #Ouray50. Just 21 more days to prep and rest before embarking on what is most likely going to be an absolute type 2 #sufferFest. Psyched.
- I know I just shouldn't make movie references in my courses, but the absolute 🦗 response my R-coding class gave to my Zoolander "the files are in the computer" joke today was absolutely soul-crushing. #academicChatter #higherEd

- One unexpected enjoyment of teaching is observing students mature both academically and socially. I've now been in my position long enough that I'm starting to get folks in my senior-level classes that I first had 4 years ago in my freshman classes. The difference can be like night and day.
- Requested this from my interlibrary loan; looking forward to digging into it.
- Colorado #trailRunning views
- Classes started today and my throat is on fire; I probably talked more today than I did all summer.
- Views from the trail. #trailRunning
- Could this be the origin of the mythical jackalope?? I wonder if frontier-stories of infected rabbits got exaggerated to stories of jack rabbits with deer-like antlers... www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-...
- Last Saturday, I had the privilege of waking up in the dark, watching the moon set over Moab, the sun rise over Castle Valley, feeling the wind rip at 12,000 feet, and was back in camp to watch the peaks alight with alpenglow. In between, I ran 50 miles and climbed >11k ft. Great day. #trailRunning
- *State insect
- Saw a Colorado Hairstreak (Hypaurotis crysalus) today on its host plant (Gamble oak, Quercus gambelii). This is Colorado's official state butterfly!
- Happy #Hardrock100 to all who celebrate! This is old news but it was SO. SMOKEY. In the San Juans this morning. Glad it's cleared up for the runners and I'm blown away to hear that Katy Schide (as of 15 hours elapsed race time) is almost an hour ahead of Courtney Dauwalter's (🐐) course record pace 🤯

- I am so excited for #westernStates100 #ws100 tomorrow. Can't wait to watch who starts crossing the line in about 24 hours from now 🤠🏃🤙 youtu.be/WHA8gO_A_gc?...
- Fantastic day of #trailRunning today. I don't have a ton of efforts on this local beast of a run, but I was able to shave off over 40 minutes on my previous PR. Incredible what nearly a year of consistent, structured training can do. If only I'd started earlier!

- Finally started Welcome to Wrexham S4 last night. I never thought a documentary about football would make me cry, and I never in a million years thought a documentary about football would make me almost cry multiple times per episode. I don't know what it is but it really kicks me straight in the 🩷.
- Beautiful day for a #trailRun in the San Juan mountains of Colorado. I need to work on my loose, technical downhill running. Splits going up were almost faster than my downs 😂
- I've never actually gotten around to fitting species distribution models, but this package for abundance-based distribution models looks like it would be fun to play with.

- Yesterday, we picked up my brother in law and my three year old asked what his favorite dinosaur was. Uncle: my favorite dinosaur is a Pterodactyl 3yo: a Pterodactyl is a flying reptile, not a dinosaur Me:

- Update: I went on a walk to reset my brain and was able to salvage the day, I think. Now I just have to wait 5-8 hours for it to run to see if it worked or not. Time for a run and then a drink or three.
- I tried to "fix" some things in my current simulation code today and instead broke everything. One of those days where a full day of work actually has me further behind than I was when I started this morning. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day to try again.

- Fun early season day in the mountains. Trails up high were still a little too snowy and sloppy to connect my originally intended route. Luckily, this area is so stunning that even spending ~6 miles on the roads is quite enjoyable. #trailRunning #mountainRunning #ultraTraining
