- Alaska and vicinity site-specific January 2026 temperature departures from normal. Southwest coldest relative to normal, though Jan 2020 was significantly colder. - January 2026 average daily sea ice extent in the Bering Sea was typical for most years since 2014 and slightly below the 48-year median in NSIDC data. Which means prior to 2014 this would have been notably low-extent January. #akwx #Arctic #SeaIce @climatologist49.bsky.social
