- Reposted by Patient Safety Commissioner"My message to Government a year ago was 'Get on with it!" My message today is - 'Seriously?!" England's Patient Safety Commissioner @pscommissioner.bsky.social tells me it's "disgraceful" that the Govt has yet to respond to a two year old report, urging compensation for medical scandal victims:
- Progress we make in healthcare and science is because we are standing on the shoulders of giants. Incredible #women in Medicine have found ways to have their voices heard. 1/3
- These changemakers who have gone before help us to be bold and inspire #change for future generations of patients and those who look after them. As part of the Medical Women's Federation series, read about my Granny, Dr Jean Lawrie CBE, President of the MWF 1976-1977. 2/3
- Friday 31 October 2025 marked the second anniversary of the Ministerial Advice I made to the DHSC on options for redress for those harmed by valproate and pelvic mesh. 1/4
- On this anniversary I wrote a letter to Minister Ahmed, formally to exercise the powers under the Medicines and Medical Devices Act 2021 (Sch 1, para 3), to request information for the purposes of carrying out my core duties. 2/4
- I have requested a timeline of work and steps undertaken by DHSC over the last 2 years to consider the content of the Hughes Report and my recommendations 3/4
- Read the full letter here: www.patientsafetycommissioner.org.uk/wp-content/u... #Redressnow #mesh #valproate #hughesreport 4/4
- On 31 October, it has been two years since the Patient Safety Commissioner submitted Ministerial Advice to DHSC on options for redress for those affected by pelvic mesh and valproate. 1/4
- I continue to hear from patients and families whose lives have been irreversibly changed, and the need for fair, timely redress remains urgent. 2/4
- Despite ongoing engagement, I still await a formal Government response. The recommendations are practical, proportionate, and deliverable, and would provide support to those who need it most. 3/4
- As this anniversary approaches, I urge the Government to respond, and encourage parliamentarians to continue pressing for action for those who have waited far too long. #PatientSafety #Valproate #PelvicMesh #Redress #HughesReport #PatientVoice #RedressNow 4/4
- Thank you so much to the Plexaa team and Patient Champion Carly for showing me the Bloom device and Bloom App at Somerset House. 1/3
- I heard how Bloom helps to improve patient outcomes following breast surgery and how the app provides information and support to patients with breast cancer before and after treatment. 2/3
- It was fantastic to see how these were designed, manufactured and tested with input from patients at every stage. #PatientVoice #MedTech #NHSEntrepreneurs 3/3
