I also wonder if there's an etiquette around that. I would feel so attention-seek-y if I didn't somehow indicate I was costumed as an OC. And I don't really want to be continuously asked who I'm supposed to be, either. Which might not happen, I don't know.

It's all cosplay as far as I'm aware, I don't think there's a specific name for it? And also, no, generally people don't consider it any more 'cringy' than they would regular 'other people's IP' cosplay, I've even seen some really cool OCs enter cosplay contests at conventions and win pretty big.

i don’t think it’s cringy at all. i have heard of it being done before but if it has a specific name i don’t remember.
