- Ooof, that one hurts. RIP, Sofia Gubaidulina. Thank you for the countless gems. youtube.com/watch?v=aZYY...
- Dream team right here. Can’t wait to spend summer at Tanglewood with these five incredibly talented composers. #tanglewood #tmc
- The leanness of Saariaho’s late scores is like sonic nouvelle cuisine. The simplest things become magically beautiful and fresh.
- I don’t quite know what to make of Hermann Nitsch’s music, which keeps making me want to revisit it. That’s… good? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- I think they meant absurd rather than absurdist.
- There are some hues I struggle with in music. Like “epic,” for instance. I can’t connect 99% of times. That oh so rare 1%, though… full body chills. Like this
- Now when I hear loud tapping, I just know it’s Hawk Hudson sitting on top of my a/c again. So beautiful, but such a noisy jerk.
- “I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists.” - Beyoncé “(…) in music, genre and kinship often co-present, as predicted by its root, gen- (genetic, genotype, and even gender).” - George Lewis
- It’s official: we’re roommates now.
- “Uncanny comfort.” Pretty apt, I kinda like that.
- This is how I spent my evening, and it was sublime. If you’re in NY, go catch them.

- Friends in Reykjavik: really cool concert TONIGHT by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Bjarnason, featuring my “Orun” and other contemporary works. So wish I could be there, but I know it’ll be great. ❤️
- Thoughts on adjudication season: there are SO MANY absolutely incredible young composers out there. The level is stratospheric. I wish there were more opportunities, more spots in programs. - I guess he heard piccolo too…
- More than ever, time to show support for our trans friends. Donate. 💰

This is a great opportunity to have new work, especially multimedia, performed in a supportive environment. Applications are rolling (until 1 June): cagedijon.hpage.com/academie-202...
- Every snowfall, our neighbors immortalize themselves as a snow couple on the bench across the street. They got a dog this year. 🥹
