- Hey ManyBabies folks (and others who've participated in BigTeamScience): how would YOU answer @timoroettger.bsky.social's question? We'd love to hear from you about what you get out your participation in large collaborative projects (or what you'd LIKE to get out of it but don't). #devpsyc

View full threadPartly because of their size, our projects also offer researchers the opportunity to design and execute what we call “spin-off” projects, which build upon the primary project by adding additional measures, hypotheses, analyses, etc.
- Our collaborative projects also offer unique opportunities for researchers at all career levels (from undergrads on up) to make new connections with others outside of their own labs/institutions, share methodological insights and best practices, and more. Being part of a community is fun!
- Great question, and something we think about a lot! The first and most obvious thing is size: our projects can collect samples that are way larger and more diverse than is possible in a typical study, which results in more power to investigate methodological variation, generalizability, etc.
