View full threadThe problem here is that while investor-owned-utilities are happy w/ increased electrification, they have no monetary incentive to increase system efficiency that would lower rates. All efficiency efforts are limited to individual behind the meter tweaks rather than system (grid) wide improvements.
- Sounds like our rigged system.
- Here in California we have time-of-use rates for electricity. Now, a simple investment in rooftop solar & a residential battery can protect ratepayers from economic exploitation. Virtual Power Plants (VPP) technology already exists & will further minimize power scarcity. #ElectrifyEverything
- We have that option too. We need more investment (incentives) in solar/battery tho.
