- Reposted by Ken PentonPeter Mandelson is telling the truth on one thing: the idea he was bought for a $4k “bursary” or a $75k gift is ridiculous The real incentive was a post-government payday - one so big he *rejected* a $3–5m-a-year offer And Epstein enabled that payday Here’s the evidence. 🧵

- Reposted by Ken PentonThis week Donald Trump claimed the North Sea has “500 years” of oil and gas left. Reality: UK oil & gas production is already in steep decline and is projected to fall ~90% by 2050. New licenses won’t reverse geology.

- Reposted by Ken PentonSome perspective: The S&P opened down -1.3% on Trump's Greenland saber-rattling. That's $750 billion of wealth destroyed -- roughly equal to estimates of the value of Greenland. And so ~in dollar terms~ his shenanigans have already cost the US one Greenland, and we've got nothing to show for it.

- Reposted by Ken PentonIn 1916, the US was worried that Germany might take control of the Danish West Indies to use as a submarine base. So, Denmark sold the Danish West Indies to the USA, with the colony becoming the US Virgin Islands. In exchange, the USA acknowledged Denmark's complete sovereignty over Greenland.

This moment should trigger a tipping point in our approach to climate action. A critical window to reset ambition, to address root causes, and to put people at the centre of our approach.

- Reposted by Ken PentonParking on the pavement in London has been illegal for 52 years and in the rest of the UK it's just a fact of life. Central government just opted against a blanket national ban. Anyway here's an excellent advert from when it was banned in London: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8Yg...
- TLDR: DfT to devolve decision making about pavement parking to highest tier of local authority (mayors, unitary, county). No national ban. bsky.app/profile/holy...

A majority of Laboir voters disapprove of him, as do large majorities of LD/Green voters. Hostility from natural political opponents is normal. Hostility from natural supporters is not.
