- "Writer"! Take that Jack Kerouac. And thanks @weddingpresent.bsky.social, and @assistant.bandcamp.com
- Everything Everything Everything Everything Everything Everything @underworldlive.bsky.social
- My youngest repping @soniccathedral.bsky.social at @underworldlive.bsky.social
- Best long albums? Spacemen 3 'Recurring' has to be up there.
- There are only three acceptable lengths for an album: 1) 45 mins (one side of a C90) 2) Around 74 mins (CD or MiniDisc capacity) 3) 90 mins for a double (tape again) I don't record to / burn any of these formats anymore. But still.
- A chat I had for @psychmag.bsky.social ... some people say I overthink stuff myself, but actually I think about them exactly the right amount, so there...

- Chris Hemsworth has just said on Graham Norton that he has seen Wedding Crashers "more than a hundred" times. I suspect the real number is no more than 16.
- Have to say I'm absolutely blown away by the response to this from people I massively respect, including @gshawisme.bsky.social @steve69.bsky.social @precrecs.bsky.social @wallytbm.bsky.social Thanks @assistant.bandcamp.com for indulging my music journo fantasies!
- www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio... "Sad escapism"... love that. Applies to music too.
- Inject it in my eyeballs
- PREORDER: 'Still in a Dream: Shoegaze, Slackers and the Reinvention of Rock, 1984–1994' by Simon Reynolds The acclaimed writer returns with a book focusing on the blissful fuzz-heavy sounds of the UK/Irish and US indie underground. @whiterabbitbks.bsky.social www.normanrecords.com/records/2138...

- My interview with @weddingpresent.bsky.social Rachael Wood, and gig photos, out now!
- @soniccathedral.bsky.social Hi Nat, starting to plan my London Chapterhouse trip (already with a spare ticket due to my second born preferring a trip to Crete)... do you know yet whether it will be a normal kind of 11pm curfew?
- The task my dreamworld just gave me: write a 2000 word essay, and record the audio version, on the question 'What is Psychology?', in one hour, to placate a criminal gang who were most perturbed there was no such thing on our website. Actually quite impressed with what my sleeping mind produced...
- You may be aware that I love little more than turning to a fellow movie go-er and stage whispering "The name of the film!!" at the appropriate point. Has there ever been one that afforded that opportunity more than 'No Other Choice'?
- Jon's Fast Food Reviews: You could put anything in the world in a McDonalds Cheeseburger and it would still just taste of McDonalds Cheeseburger.

- podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/s... This encapsulates what I've been saying about AI, both in terms of how critical the 'hallucination' issue is, and Stewart Lee saying about attempts to rein in its use "it's gone, it's done".
- More #NewMusicFriday goodness... as is so often the way, via @soniccathedral.bsky.social youtu.be/l008DA1HsRo?...
- Today's #NewMusicFriday listening... 'Sidings' by @cravenfaults.bsky.social on @theleaflabel.com and 'Dearden's number' by Rocket Rules on @shorediverecords.bsky.social
- This afternoon's listening... one of the great lost albums.
- www.theguardian.com/film/2026/ja... I do love a time loop.
- Filled a gap in my @weddingpresent.bsky.social Edsel reissue collection (you really don't want to see the rest!). If only I'd got them all at the time, I'd have the Hove Sessions EPs...
- @dannykellywords.bsky.social Nerdy question: in the discussion over who popularised the term 'Britpop', names usually in the frame are Stuart Maconie, John Robb. But you used it in a review of @weddingpresent.bsky.social 'George Best' in '87. That's got to be a pretty early use, right?
- Bought a video doorbell. If anything, it works *too* well. For some reason, it never occurred to me I'd get notifications every time *I* leave or arrive, or - more significantly - my son does.
- Oh fair enough, I look quite the fool... I just assumed the series was unfolding in real time i.e. the outbreak was '98. Still, bad about the vinyl.
- I mean, worse than that, it was released in 2000... #28YearsLaterBoneTempleNerdsUnite
- What a week. Please send music. This was my listening for the day.
- Morning listening from Calliere
- Reposted by Dr Jon SuttonAbout 18 months ago I sent this letter, along with a copy of my book, to a number of MPs and peers, including Wes Streeting. I never got a response (which to be fair was my baseline expectation), but it’s still disheartening to see today’s news about Haidt’s invitation to speak to policymakers.
- www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026... Oh who would have thought AI makes stuff up 🙄
- There's a Sainsbury's ad in Leicester at the moment which says "Leicester, last year you bought 543KG of Dubai chocolate. That's nuts." Anyone else think that sounds like a really unremarkable amount?
- Love this
