I see folks lauding this Cato take. But I'm hesitant to give them too much credit. They accepted racism when it made it easier for employers to exploit workers (eg, with anti-safety net & anti-labor policies). And they challenge racism now only when it removes workers that employers want to exploit.
Feb 4, 2026 15:33Now, I get that some libertarians and "fiscal conservatives" might be persuaded to oppose ICE actions based on a statement like this from Cato. But I hope those who are persuaded will at least ask themselves why they're comfortable with some racist policies but not others : )
